Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

^ Thanks.

The steps after removal were as follows (for cowl & wipers):

1. Spray/scrub using Eagle 1 Wheel Cleaner
2. Rinse
3. Scrub with SEM 38338 (Scuff & Clean Sanding Paste) using a fine scuff pad
4. Rinse
5. Dry
6. Spray SEM 38373 (Pre Cleaner)
7. Dry
8. Spray multiple coats of SEM 39063 (Gloss Trim Black)

I have used the SEM trim paint for a while now and love the stuff. Its a little pricier than other options but its honestly worth every penny. I avoided Amazon as the retailers are charger crazy high prices. I found a good store that has good prices and great service with quick shipping. They are called R&E Paint Supply (http://www.repaintsupply.com).

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I changed out my drivers seat yesterday. The original cushion had a large torn middle horizontal seam. I was able to buy a very dirty drivers seat out of someones parts car that had a okay cushion but a very bad leather back. I recovered the leather back piece with one from a spare passenger seat that I got last year from a pick and pull. I was surprised how well it turned out. I think it will need a lot of conditioner on the cushion and it is slightly musty but it looks better overall.

Meanwhile I plan to try to recover the cushion in the original with the cushion from the spare passenger seat and if that turns out well I may end up putting it back in since I believe the foam is better in the original seat. I just need to figure out how to attach the little front carpet trim, I might have to have someone sew it on since the passenger side did not get that.

Wow, that looks great. It's amazing how the small touch ups can have such a big effect on the overall appearance of the car.

Couldn't agree more. The headlights are next. I plan on polishing the usdm ones currently on the car until I get my edm glass ones in. Still deciding on retrofitting the lenses or completely replace.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Replaced passenger side knock sensor yesterday. On inspection the sensor was cracked in two places. Many thanks to SVXfiles and immortal_suby for posts and pictures, which made it a breeze. (Not to mention the How-To Doc) Bless that ratcheting box wrench!

Only hitch I had was loosing one of the plastic clips that holds the plastic engine cover and finding a fibreglass nest. Hopefully it's on the splash plate under the engine and I can retrieve it next oil change. Couldn't see it anywhere on top of the engine & a small vacuum nozzle didn't retrieve anything, other than the squirl nest, peanut, maple and sunflower seeds under the manifold. The little bugger chewed some of the insulation out of the hood liner and made a cosy spot for the winter.

In my experience, when rodents have a choice of engines to cozy up on, 9 out of 10 choose Subaru.

Must be that warm spacious deck.

Glad we don't have squirrels but mice have been epidemic this past Winter in our area; I've had a bunch in my shop- which I thought I'd mouse-proofed years ago.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

We tried a flashing led box under the hood last winter and it may have worked. No more missing pieces from the hood insulation and no nests. They may have tried to settle in as we saw some mouse urine stains in the inlet collector but they didn't stay. For in the car we used bags of repellant that smell of ceder.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Thanks! Maybe I'll set those up on the entire perimeter of my shop.

Haven't had any mice in my SVX since I finished my garage. Pack rats were a serious problem in parts of our county while all I had was mice. In one small town nearby, if you drive through the more outlying areas, vehicle hoods are all open, hoping to keep pack rats away. The auto shop there was overwhelmed with pack rat repair!

Started taking it apart to find out why it died, The timing belt tensioner pulley bolt broke taking out the belt. Now to decide how many parts to use from the parts car and how many to buy new.

Started working on my Twinscroll downpipe.

Should be at about 350/370 range after I'm done with my 207.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I got tired of looking down from my deck onto the shot paint on my roof..

3 cans of black plasti-dip later:

This was my first time playing with plasti-dip, and it did not come out perfect, but at least it is less white now.
I can always peel it off if I decide I don't like it.

Also cleaned up the yellow on my headlights again..

Trying to get her more presentable for the Dragon meet.
