SVX Related... really!

I sometimes love my job. I produce commercials for a living, and sometimes (most of the time, actually) it can be a lot of stress and tons of hours. But I do occasionally get a job that makes me say, "Sometimes I really love my job."

I was called at the 11th hour to put together a very small shoot for Lexus. It was to document a new Lexus car being completely taken apart right down to the nuts and bolts for a new campaign they are doing. We shot this as a time-lapse sequence over a few days as the car was being taken apart by a crew of 8 guys.

The company that did the work does all the car prep fabrication for Lexus advertising is called B.A.D. Co. and they are located in the San Fernando Valley in Los Angeles.

I have known the guys at B.A.D. for a while now and to have the opportunity to hang out at the shop with these guys while at "work" is a pretty awesome. There is always a cool car in some stage of restoration or custom work going on. Here are a few pics to enjoy… as well as what I found in the back….

A custom hot rod pick up getting some metal fabrication...

A completely original Porsche 914-6...

A super rare stunning 1962 Ferrari 250 GT Lusso on it's way to a complete registration...

A Porsche 356 racer...

The Porsche has rare annular brakes... Porsche's first disk brake system. The caliper is mounted on the inside near the hub. The rotor is attached to the hub by 5 tabs on the outer edge of the disk.

And in the back several shelves of research materials of which there was a complete collection of Auto & Design.

Now I knew that the SVX was covered in this journal back in 1991. I did a little research and found the issue... number 75, Aug/Sept 1992. I went over to the shelf, they were in numerical order. A very interesting, comprehensive 8 page article. Enjoy...
