Yeah, that guy sounds like he got off easy. The question is though if she was actually assaulted by the guy or she just made it up.

Deserved
I agree he probably got what he deserved, but a 13 and a 14 year old could manage to keep things neat in a house if they wanted to. Of course they couldn't fix plumbing problems, etc. Seems all members of the household contributed to the filth and squalor.

a 13 yr old girl who was brought up well and responsible, can come into that, and clean up their surroundings to suit. One who was treated like/brought up like an animal, will act like an animal. Civility is not an instinctive trait of a 'good' person.
