NEEDED: Passenger Rear Quarter Panel

I am desperate need of a passenger quarter panel, someone hit my car while it was parked and trashed my panel from under the light to above the wheel.
Let me know how much and what shipping to 49684 is. Thank you

1stsubaruparts.com has new panels for $290. Probably better to get a new one, since I don't know if any of the guys on here really want to go through the massive amount of work to remove an old one properly.

For $300 a new part is a better deal than a used one.

Sorry to hear this. Chris is right, a new panel is the way to go.

Have you spoken to a body shop, and are they aware that the rear screen has to come out, and the side rear glass has to come out to replace this panel?

Unless your original panel is very badly buckled, they are likely to tell you it will be better to repair the old panel. [Assuming it can be repaired of course]

The possibility of damaging or breaking your glass will be high, and the cost of labour.........

You pays your money, and you takes your choice.

Get a new panel. Nothing sucks quite like used body parts, let alone rear quarters...Take it from yet another guy who knows

Hrmmm, I am very handy with fiberglass I've been mowing over the idea of cutting it out replacing it with screen and fiberglassing then bondo'ing it, what do you think? A new one still has to be welded in and the risk of glass is high too...

I do believe a good body shop can cut out the damaged areas, and cut the same piece from an old or new panel to replace the damaged area. Then they tack it in place, line everything up, and braze it in place. Then the usual grinding, and surface prep, followed by paint

You may want to check into this before you go with doing the fiberglass and Bondo. Being a unibody car first off could lead to cracking of the fiberglass and Bondo. Second, unless you are really good with glass, im not sure you would get the results you are looking for. Either way, let us know about your findings.

My car needs significant rust repair along the body line and rear wheel wells. The way I'm probably going to go is buy new panels, let the body shop cut out the bad spots on the old ones, cut the new ones to match, and weld in the new parts.

It is an extremely big panel, and part of the structural integrity.

I like Upnorth's idea better.

I suppose it depends how much harm was done to the original. Did the body shop express a preference, or are you going it alone? Taking out the glass would be the bit I would not care for.
