Porting and more boost
Boost pressure isnt a measure of the power potential... it is a measure of restriction. Free up the flow and you have more power at less psi. I usually work with for 2.3 4 bangers... CRAP head flow. However... I crank them up to 25+ psi to compensate for it. The head flow isnt BAD on the EG33 from what I have seen, it will make decent power with proper engine management. Jim

OK, I see what you mean.
There is a very long thread about building an EG33. You need to read it. There are differences between what the 2.2 uses and what the SVX uses. These are minor in some cases, but different enough to ensure that it is financially better to buy special rods, pistons etc So interchangeability is not straightforward. Or cheap. Joe

PLEASE read into this before you give us more knowledge. This also (like wheels and tires) has been researched and researched and researched. The SVX is different

We are a long way off the radar over here, even though we had an Eaton supercharger working long before those in the States. Not working well, mind, but working. Totally agreed. We will see over 500 hp in 2008, guaranteed.

500 WHP is always possible with an engine of this size.
It will cost more and will probably require two pretty big turbos and a very strongly built engine. 500 crank HP will probably be achieved just by paying attention to detail and keeping things right.

um definatly food for thought isnt it??
i just cant understand why these people r fitting 5speeds, 4.44, turbos, superchargers etc cause it aint cheap and they are not even getting any dramatic changes. |

While the 4.44 trans and 5 speed swaps may not make a drastic difference... it is very noticeable tho... they make day to day driving MUCh more enjoyable.
I have a 4.44 swap my fiance has a 5 speed, so I get hands on with both. I am not a fan of superchargers, I much prefer turbos. Jim

The turbo/SC cars I'd bet the numbers are mighty impressive in a HP/$ equation. It's not ALWAYS about the numbers, a lot of the time it's about the FEELING.

daily driver loss? i cant see that as a problem all depends how you drive it really! my sons 600hp and yes thats at the wheels honda is a daily driver and why the hell not it handles well stops on a dime and if like me he drives the legal limit it aint that much dearer than over origanl spec to run, costs enough for insurance so why keep it in the garage..( if u got it flaunt it i say)

Just about anything is possible with enough time, motivation, effort, and most of all: Money! I'm sure if you threw enough dollar signs into an EG33 you could get some downright silly numbers.
That being said, I've seen a lot of claims for HP and 1/4 mile times etc, but when asked for proof the person making the claims becomes mysteriously silent. Call me a skeptic, but I tend to believe HP numbers when I see a dyno readout, and 1/4 mile times when I see a video of the run. Oh, and yes, understandable grammar is good. Write it down exactly how you would say it in a conversation to a person you've just met.

Because not everyone wants a 11 sec car to drive around daily. My red car is a blast to drive. All it has is a 4.44 swap and a couple of small mods, but it is a fun car. My silver car is a totally different animal however. It is a high 12 second car at this point ( a guess at this point, no slips to show yet) Cost of my set-up which is at about 400 crank hp ($3000 in internals, $3200 in machine work, misc, and labor, $7500 for the stage III S/C, $5000 for the 6spd swap) is about $18,700. There is not a whole lot more that can be done to the block or heads with out getting into RIDICULOUS $$$. I am still running an open deck. With time, meth, twin intakes, and maybe see how the motor likes 15 or so psi and then maybe I will see some numbers close to 500crankhp. That will take a lot more $$$ though

You also have to remember that when you're comparing the WRX turbo block cube-for-cube with the EG33, that it doesn't work out the same unless the EG33 is the same compression ratio, as 16 psi on a 10:1 engine is a LOT different than 16 psi on a 7:1 engine.... There is a formula to figure your effective compression ratio based on your actual compression ratio and boost pressure, but I don't know it off the top of my head...
(I do know from the experience of a friend that an EA82T with 9.5:1 pistons and a WRX turbo pushing 20psi doesn't work too well without popping head gaskets, but is faster than snot while it works lol...)
