EBC brakes (2012 thread)
Subaru Norway wants two arms, three legs and a penis for new disks and pads.
Did anyone formulate an opinion on EBC brakes recently? I see old threads but nothing recent. I want good brakes. And the OEM brakes, are they ventilated all over the disk or just those five holes? And what is the effect of brake dust that everyone's talking about in the older threads? Cheers

Re: EBC brakes (2012 thread)
i haven't used ebc brakes in a couple years but they seemed about on par with other performance brake stuff at the time. the oem rotors being vented is just the vanes that run in between the two sides of the rotor. you might want to get slotted/cross drilled if heat is a concern. the brake dust can mess up the finish on your wheels and cause squeaking. you can avoid this if you take your wheels off every now and then to clean them and the brakes. do you have a napa equivalent out there? i have adaptive one pads on mine and have never had any problems.

Re: EBC brakes (2012 thread)
Teh reason I'm looking at the ECBs is simply because they offer something and are considerably cheaper than the OEM ones. Do the ECB outperform the OEM or are they more equal?

Re: EBC brakes (2012 thread)
If you look in my signature, you'll see my recommendations for brakes. The EBC pads are very good in my experience. Plently of stopping power. When it's time for new brakes on my black car I'll use them again. Not sure if I'd go for the redstuff again or the low-dust ones instead though.
OEM stuff matters for certain things, but for brakes we can easily do better for cheaper.

Re: EBC brakes (2012 thread)
Since I don't drive on track, do I need redstuff? Is Greenstuff up to the job or are they too weak?

Re: EBC brakes (2012 thread)
Not used the greenstuff yet, but they are probably fine. Pads aren't as important as very good rotors on this car it seems. Get the "premium" variety from the link in my sig.
