This is the one that's happening on the 28th right? Can i get an address of where we're going? I have to leave bright and early sunday morning to get with the driving to texas bit, and want to get a road map printed out for where to go.

Also who can i follow from king of prussia/philadelphia area, as i get lost really easy when it comes to non-highway roads. Thanks.

If you can get to the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Interstate 76), there are now directions to SVXfiles' from there, both eastbound and westbound, on www.svxfiles.com.

As far as getting you to the Turnpike; sorry, you're on your own.

EDIT: I'll still be getting crabs. They're pretty big crabs.

There will be plenty of hot dogs and hamburgers and other stuff.

Which reminds me...could those of you that are coming bring some stuff for the cookout on Sunday? Soda/drinks, chips, plastic utensils, napkins, plates, other food items...etc. You also might want to bring some chairs too.

Thanks in advance. This should be a lot of fun.

I'll be glad to bring some or all of the above - if there is anything in particular, let me know.

Talking Is SVXfiles' house for sale?

Look for the house for sale! ...............................^...

It's not too difficult. Tom showed me how to go to his house 2-3yrs ago. 2-3yrs later, I managed to go to his house without directions last few wks. The trick is he told me his hosue is very near to the cumberland airport. So on the I68 look for the signs how to go to cumberland airport, do not turn into the airport. After the airport entrance, I remember I have to turn in a small rd on the left side, how do I make sure is the right one? I just know there's a small church on the left side right after I turn. And, it's about 2 miles with bumpy and curvy road. And you will see a house above 'for sale' on the left.^^ And I don't remember anything else. Thought I might share.

Directions to our house are on our website. Here is a picture of where you have to turn onto Old Airport Road. These signs are on the LEFT side of the road.

That picture of the house was taken several months ago, when the house next door was still for sale (and there were no leaves on the trees, either!) I guess I'll have to take a NEW picture so Ken can find the house without the 'for sale' sign.

Tom's words when I was heading to his house

"You'll see the house on your left."

I was thinking..."ok there could be several houses. How will I know which one is his?"

Then I saw a herd of SVXs parked on the lawn. You CAN'T miss it.

Please list what you are bringing so we don't have too much of one thing and not enough of another thing.

Thanks!

I will be getting about a 1/2 bushel of crabs. If anyone wants more...I will need a donation in order to get a whole bushel.

One of Jerry's (subi-crosser) first posts referred to our house this way: "It was really easy to find the place, just look for the place where a ship loaded with fuji stuff ran aground and dumped the load so it would float again!"

Rebecca, I can't thank you enough for organizing all of this stuff. I have been so busy lately, I don't know if I'm coming or going. I'm learning (finally) not to sweat the small stuff, though. I'm just going to give the house a quick once-over and let everybody fend for themselves when they get here. My days of striving to be the perfect hostess are OVER!!

Gee, I wonder why I never get company anymore?

Cumberland Weather & Events July 28-29

WEATHER
The weather forecast is calling for highs around 90° with scattered/isolated thunderstorms both days. That is pretty much typical for this time of year, so we may get rained on, maybe not.

EVENTS
We still don't know about Doc McCagh's cookout on Saturday evening, although it IS a standing tradition on Autocross weekends. If not, we'll figure something out -- there are lots of decent bars & restaurants in the area, or we could have an informal evening here. There is a free concert at Canal Place on Saturday evening from 7:00 to 9:00, featuring a band named "Take Two". I've never heard them and don't know what kind of music they play (sounds like jazz or oldies to me), but Canal Place is a big tourist spot around here, so it might be worth checking out. There is also music by Don Robinson (don't know him) from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. downtown at the Farmer's Market. The Farmer's Market runs from 9:30-2:00. On Saturday and/or Sunday, there is Stock Car Racing at the Allegany County Fairgrounds, but I have no information on it. If anyone is interested, I have the phone number. On Sunday morning, there is a Fly-In, Drive-In at the Airport from 7:00 a.m. until around noon, with an All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast (sausage, eggs, pancakes, homefries, coffee, orange juice) for $5.00 a person from 7:00 a.m. till 11:30. There is also music downtown from 1:00 to 3:00 by Ray Christiansen, but again, I have no idea what kind of music it is.

If anyone comes in on Friday, there is music downtown from 5:00-10:00 p.m. (2 or 3 bands).

And with all that going on, we'll probably spend the whole weekend sitting around the yard, drinking Asti.

What's not to like?

Band confirmed.....

The band will be there SAT from 4 till 6. Rock from late 60's thru Nickleback.
If the other gig doesn't look as good, we might be able to 'wine and dine' them a little longer.
