Can you post a sound clip of the flowmaster? I too am starting to look at options for replacing the stock muffler, and I would rather not have to guess.

I see what you are saying though and that would work good. If its not forced induction anyway. For Forced induction I'd make the 2-> 1 cat the first thing that isn't a chunk of plain exhaust pipe. For full racing that just requires a cat to be kept (aka rally) putting the cat last on the stick works as it just has to be in the system, not work properly. |

The car for sale near me has that exhaust set up. It resonates pretty badly at around 3k rpm. Below 3k rpm, it sounds pretty nice, but needs to be a bit quieter. over 3k rpm though

there are better options out there for equal or lesser the price... Contact shotgunslade... he has the perfect N/A SVX exhaust in my humble opinion

I'm running something different on my na svx than everybody else. I think it flows better and sounds better...but i can't back that up and am not interested in putting in the effort to do so. I'll tell you my personal thoughts on why I did what I did and then what I did and you can take it for what it's worth.
The outlets on the exhaust manifolds are 2.25" The tubing is severely crimped down and transitions to small tubing for the primaries. If you cut very close to the flanges you can go straight with 2.25" from the flanges with no restriction. A dual inlet cat despite having 2 inlets has the same surface area and thus presents around the same restriction as a single inlet cat--hence two primary cats is about half the restriction of a dual inlet cat. Cats are also more effective closer to the engine. Magnaflow's dual inlet single outlet mufflers are basically a big resonator with a corrugated y pipe inside. They are extremely high flowing and can be used to make the conversion from the two primary pipes to the single pipe back to the muffler. I cut everything out from almost flush with the flanges which bolt to the exhaust manifolds to the tube going back to the muffler. Used 2.25" through out with a pair of magnaflow cats (installed rotated a bit so as not to get in the way of the transmission drain), and a dual inlet single out magnflow muffler. This set up has ZERO resonance; not the slightest hint of resonance anywhere. It's a little quieter than stock. |

He wanted a meaner sound under heavy acceleration for autocrossing and just a little deeper while cruising. Something about cutting the muffler open, cutting tubes and welding it shut.
