Save up enough ( $2,000)to buy a good one / Drive where every you have to. Just cuz it is close does not make it a good deal/.
You may have to fix it to sell it.

Re: 1992 Svx Lsl

then even i over paid.

i paid $1,250 and was totally ripped on it.
i never met the owner, never told me about the power steering, window or the AWD.

i don't want anything more to do with this SVX.

Still runs and drive's yes, still insured and cant still take her out for a drive.

dont get me wrong i like the svx.

Re: 1992 Svx Lsl

Well, IMHO you can't buy a $1250 SVX and not expect to have to put money into it. I think I remember once reading someones post that said something like "you know you are an SVX owner when you have spent 3x more on repairs than you paid for the car".

If I were you I would at least continue on the body repairs. Sand it down and prime it. Body repairs are a turn off for buyers, so the more you have done the better. The car has relatively low miles, and despite the rust actually seems to be in fairly good shape. If the two mechanical repairs are done it should run for a long time.

You know you are not going to get even close to your asking price right?

Re: 1992 Svx Lsl

I think you should do one of two things here:

1. Keep it and make it your true project car/weekender. Fix the rust/paint issues (as it appears you a capable of doing) and the AWD may be as simple as a broken linkage (as I recall being wrong with my Bordeaux before I purchased it).

2. Trade your project SVX for a project Impreza that someone is willing to trade you. Either way you're going to lose money and/or invest in something to get what you want out of it.

But you're right... gas isn't going down anytime soon and the cost of fueling these beasts ranging from $55 and up for a single fill is kind of a downer... but still, I love these cars
With that said, good luck with the sale... I know that is what your decision is as of now. Hopefully someone will sweep it up and baby it.
