Re: Sourcing an oil leak, can someone point me in the right direction?
Well the PCV replacement did not fix my problem. Those little divots on the engine are filled back up again. Any other suggestions on a fix? Im getting tired of getting out of my car and smelling burning oil.....

A few days ago my car began to fiercely pool oil in this spot. My IRIS valve was supposedly replaced 300 miles ago, completely, so I am assuming I have blown a headgasket towards the top rear right of the engine. I actually lost a few quarts over only 250 miles.
Might want to look at yours. -- Nevermind. I'm going to now say they failed to properly fix the leaky manifold. Granted it was almost exactly one year ago, I have only driven the car 300 miles since then. (Though still, my gasket looks like ****, same as ever. I've got my eye on you, head gasket.)

Re: Sourcing an oil leak, can someone point me in the right direction?
Who replaced you IRIS valve? And how much did they charge? Thats the piece that is inside the intake correct? looks like a round flat piece of metal that opens and closes?
So I found this pic in Pearlm30's locker and had to steal it lol. Heres where I have oil dripping, at least from what I can see. I get oil on my hand no matter where I touch there, and its dripping farther back as well, but I cant see from where.

$728 in parts, $360 in labor. Yes. I don't know. My manifold is definitely not leaking from where you pointed out. Quite a mystery.

Re: Sourcing an oil leak, can someone point me in the right direction?
My only other idea is that it may be the valve cover breathers. On top of each valve cover is a little black plastic box. Each has a large vaccuum line that goes to the underside of the big plastic box part of the intake just behind the throttle body. You may be drawing oil out of the valve covers, into the intake, through the throttle body, and into the manifold and IRIS. Check the inside of the intake tube and the throttle body for oil. If that's what you've got than I'm not sure what the best cure is, other than a catch-can rigged up with those vaccuum lines. The oil can't be coming back up from the cylinders or through a head gasket without making some very serious problems (ie, massive backfires and such, blowing the intake off the car, etc).
Edit: Ref; this thread

Re: Sourcing an oil leak, can someone point me in the right direction?
My car has oil pooling in the same spot also. I temporally rerouted the valve cover breather lines into the frame rail and pluged where they connected to the intake duct work. STILL oil is pooling, I'm hoping there is some more oil inside the intake that needs to work it's way out. We will see after time.
Someone told me to check the oil fill tube oring. When I pulled it off I could tell it was leaking there also. I siliconed it and the oil is still pooling on the top of the motor, but one less leak to deal with. Jrobe |

I discovered my leak was caused by a faulty oil pressure switch, located near the alternator. It leaks quite discretely.
