No kidding, what is the top speed of a stock SVX?
This topic was posted in the past but there was a lot of "debate" and no consensus from what I could tell. 143 MPH is the most often quoted top speed. Someone in another thread said the original Subaru claim was 146MPH. I have seen people claim 152 MPH and 155 MPH. But it was never clear if that was a fully stock SVX. Modified SVXs have gone up to the 170s but that's not what I am talking about here. I would like a solid and reliable reference point for the stock car.
Does anyone have reliable information on this?

Re: No kidding, what is the top speed of a stock SVX?
Look up "SVX Vmax" on Youtube, I believe there are two parts. (I'd link it, but Youtube is blocked on work computers). It shows a guy with the speedo pegged.
As to the infamous "speed limiter", no such thing exists in any real sense. Tom brought up somewhere back that there is one, but it's at something like 400 MPH and not really about speed anyway, more an engine parameter. (If I'm remembering correctly, it's been a while.)

Re: No kidding, what is the top speed of a stock SVX?
Place the tire diameter in a "perfect world" scenario and add gearing and max RPM:
Tires: 215/55/16 (some years) 4th Gear: 0.694:1 Diff: 3.54:1 Redline: 6500 Max RPM: 7000 Tire Dia.: ~25.31 in Tire Circ.: ~6.63 ft @6500 RPM: ~199 MPH @7000 RPM: ~215 MPH Right? That's not to say that it has the horsepower to get there...

Re: No kidding, what is the top speed of a stock SVX?
I dunno. A buddy of mine had a Stage 2 STi up to 172MPH, which was the gearing-limited top speed. (He just happened to have access to a very long airport runway.) If a brick can do 172...
