Re: Reading TWELVE sign-up list

Logistical question for you guys. It looks like my wife needs me home on Saturday. How long does everyone stick around on Sunday?

I was hoping to meet everyone and have one, or more, experts drive my car around and check it out to give me some suggestions on what needs to be done to it.

Re: Reading TWELVE sign-up list

Checkout of the hotel is noon.

Some who drive greater distances leave quite a bit earlier to get home at a reasonable hour. Most come down for breakfast and hangout for a while and then checkout.

Except for some stragglers, it is safe to assume that we will all be gone by 1-1:30pm.

Saturday is THE main day

I want to come, but for the same reason as huskymaniac, my poor car needs some diagnoses.

Is this something that happens at reading, or will everyone be too drunk?

I be willing to make the 4.5 hour ride if it means svxfiles will test drive her to diagnose what the hell is wrong with her.

But I don't want to ruin anyone's weekend begging for test drives and test rides...

I checked with the hotel online this morning, they still have rooms for Friday and Saturday, $103 a night though.

PROBABLY NOT DURING THE DAY

SEND HIM A PM AND ASK.

ONE TEST DRIVE SHOULD BE SUFFICIENT FROM THE RIGHT PERSON

I checked with the hotel online this morning, they still have rooms for Friday and Saturday, $103 a night though.
Don't get me started on this one. The discount rate of $80/night was in effect for almost a year. That's why I have been urging members to register early for TEN years!. Next year will be a totally different ball game altogether as far as rooms are concerned

Re: Reading TWELVE sign-up list

You seem to sound like you think I'm complaining about the room rates, if so, that is not it at all.
I was just saying there are rooms still, even though the doom and gloom about how they were going to be book solid on Saturday cause some other function.
They got double queens, and kings, and smoking, and non smoking still when I said show me AAA room rates.

Re: Reading TWELVE sign-up list

.

Sorry, I did not mean for you to take it that way.

The original block of 25 rooms was reserved for us for almost a year. Once it was less than 30 days until Reading, all leftover rooms were returned to the general inventory of rooms.

I spoke with the Holiday Inn this afternoon. They have a fair number of rooms for Friday night and only 2 rooms with queen beds for Saturday. A few weeks ago all that was available were smoking rooms.

You still got a good rate off of the normal price.

As far as the restaurant goes, they don't expect any problems for dinner on Friday or Saturday. The real crunch would be the Sunday morning breakfast buffet.

Re: Reading TWELVE sign-up list

Some of the members who put this together as well as other meets go to a lot effort to get good rates on rooms, activities, and other things to do. When few respond to these efforts within the planned time frame, it is easier to decide to do much less in the future. Much of the effort goes unnoticed and they expect it to be done the next year as well. I am not complaining, but just stating the facts that I see.

I will get my flame suit ready.

Re: Reading TWELVE sign-up list

My wife indicated today that we may be able to work around our conflicts so I can drive down on Saturday! I am anxious to hear what people think of the condition of my car. It seems to be running pretty well other than a couple of noises I would like to identify and fix.
