Exclamation 2006 Subaru Challenge in Maryland **AutoX Meet**

The Mid-Atlantic Event at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, MD has now been confirmed for Saturday, September 16th.

http://www.subaruchallenge.com/upcoming.htm

Several people attended last year, and it would be nice if we can have a bunch of people from the network there again in '06!

Here's the meet thread from '05: http://www.subaru-svx.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26895

I'll be there with my '06 WRX TR competing in D-Stock. Hope to see many of you there!

-Chike

P.S. Main Subaru Challenge page is here: http://www.subaruchallenge.com/

yes, you missed it. The Subaru Challenge has been held at Ripken Field for the last 4(?) years and it is always held ~ middle of September. Check the first post in this thread for the specifics - the links should be very similar for the 2007 event.

Any aero or body changes from stock immediately bump you into SM. Not to mention that s/c pushing air into your engine!

I'm looking forward to this meet. I'm not +ve I'll be on r-comps, but I'll at least be on my current sticky summer tires. At an autoX test-n-tune event today, I was just 1.5 seconds off of FTD (raw times) and was the second fastest in D-Stock.

Chike,
Good job! How many drivers did you have at the event? Just got home after a long day up in Cumberland and big, big props to Tom K (SVXFiles) for all his help getting "Bill Stock" back and healthy! (pics sometime Monday)

Thanks Bill. The test-n-tune was limited to a total of 50 drivers in my club. The lot was nice and clean, with the majority of it being new pavement. FTD was a 23.08 by a guy who regularly competes at Nationals. Fastest time in D-stock was a 23.24 by a solid WRX driver on r-comps (he's preparing to compete in a provisional next month and go to nationals for the first time this year). I turned a 24.56 on my summer tires. I was actually matching the times of the best 2.0L WRX guys in STX (they were turning times in the mid to low 24's). Most drivers out there were running 25-26 second laps and the novice's were in the 27-28 second range.

I'd say on the tight short course we had, r-comps were worth about 1 second over summer tires. I definitely felt I had a 24.0-24.2 in my car that day if I had been able to manage 'grip' better in some of the tight turns (need to work on trail braking).

Congrats on getting Bill-Stock back together again!!! Was it the flex plate?

Well Chike, here's your pics of what I have been consumed with lately

Usually they are in one piece... also make note, if your frickin huge detriot diesel won't turn over, this may be your problem

Oh, and I threw my shoe in there to make a size reference to how enormous this engine really is but don't forget, I wear a size 13

Yes Bill, it is one of the twin engines in our 40' Egg Harbor. They are 671 Detroit diesel engines and we lost one about 75 miles off shore during the White Marlin Invitational. Anyway All is looking well for me to have the Shadow Machine reading and ripping for the Subaru Challenge

Well there's your problem... somebody's foot got caught up in the crank...

I got to see this beast of an engine the other week after the South Jersey Meet when they were trying to lift it up onto the engine stand, one seriously BIG chunk of steel.

Well I completed an autoX this weekend in Richmond, VA with the VMSC (Virginia Motor Sports Club) inorder to run against competition outside of my local SCCA club.

I finished 3rd in D-Stock and 37th out of 102 in PAX. Several national level drivers (like Rod McGeorge and Jeff Chenery) are members of this club and my PAX times are almost exactly 4 seconds behind theirs. While a switch to r-comps will cut about 2 seconds off my times, I realize I need to work off another 2+ seconds inorder to be competitive at the national level.

Hopefully, the Evolution school I'll be attending in the Spring of '07 will help me take my technique to a higher level. I've also noticed that my car is understeering too much on these tighter courses, so I'm going to play with my tire pressures to help rotate the rear a little more and make my car's handling more neutral (I currently use 40psi front & 42-44psi rear and I'll be going to 40psi front & 48-50psi rear).

Chike
