Re: sooo since my last thread turned out so awesome!

Personally, I would chunk up another grand or so and get a brand new off the line Nissan Versa... at least, if a reliable - warranty having - DD is what I were looking to get is in order, that would fit my bill. Slightly over budget at 10,900 but nothing you can't make up elsewhere if you are already in that range anyways.

If you're looking for something far more awesome and perky to drive that doesn't include a warranty, please disregard my feedback above

With that said, I did see an Audi TT 2008 with 83k miles asking for $5,900 that seemed like it would be a blast as a DD. You could probably pick up one of those funzies up for under $10k if you looked around.

Re: sooo since my last thread turned out so awesome!

You know I was always curious why do a lot of the ppl on her like the Volvo xc90?

Also I was looking pick up truck or hatchback something that has a little space to carry stuff and still fun.... I have always wanted a roadmaster I know that sounds odd but they seem very utilitarian just not fuel efficient.

I have been looking for a 2002-2005 ram1500 cus we used to have one and it was awesome especially with the 5 speed!

Re: sooo since my last thread turned out so awesome!

Pretty sure it's well beyond ten grand (all I know is the payment is <$300), but my daughter recently bought an '09 (or '10?) Kia Sportage and absolutely loves it. Not bad looking, good gas mileage, decent kid/cargo hauler, AWD. Seems to me Kia has gotten its act together. This is my daughter's second, and a coworker of mine recently bought a new Optima; Kia #3 from her.

!
You'd be surprised, gas mileage is similar to the SVX, slightly worse around town, but better on the highway actually.

Re: suggestions for cars that are under $10,000?

buy an old tahoe or similar vehicle, save the rest of your money and put it into your svx. i bought a 2000 escalade for 9k last year. it's mechanically the same as a 6k tahoe just with dual heated seats, dual ac, etc... chevy 350 and dirt cheap parts. volvos are fine if your buying a car for your mom, versas and kias are fine if it's for your 16 year old daughter. having fixed plenty of newer cars recently (quality from ALL automakers has gone down drastically) i can honestly say that the average repair on a newer car is a lot more than major repair on an older vehicle. last month replaced the instrument panel on an 2010 commander because the turn signals didn't work. $800 later the computer that controls the turn signal was working again the customer wished his flasher cost $3 like it should. long story short don't buy anything made after 2000, any car that advertises being all new or redesigned (these are bad words), or any car you might not be able to afford to fix.

Re: suggestions for cars that are under $10,000?

2002-2005 Explorer V8 4wd. **** resale so they are cheap. 4.6 in the real world gets the same milage as the v6 since you never have to flog it to make the car move. 4.6 routinely hit 500K miles in taxi duty.

if you want to stay subaru the 2005-2009 era of legacy is simply amazing, and the prices should be within your range. The turbo 2.5GT might be too much but the 2.5i gets awesome milage and still has most of the sweet toys inside.
