Reading Seven Hotel Comments
Now that Reading VII is over, it would be nice to have comments from those there about what they liked and didn't like about being back at Morgantown again.
Overall, I think things went very well. Management seened to be as accommodating as possible during our stay. Michael Turner, General Manager, talked with me several times over the weekend to check on everything and see if all was well. Seeing how the weather was bad, it was really nice to have the large indoor cocktail lounge that stayed open so late (Those who remember the Denver HI for Reading V, the bar was very small and inside the restaurant, which closed at 10:00pm) Anyway, post your feelings and observations in this thread so that they can be communicated to management. .

I can say that it was nice to get out of that wet rain and into the indoor pool. The hotel was pretty accomodating, but they didnt leave a mint on my pillow
--edit-- Just so nobody takes it the wrong way, the first line is supposed to be funny / ironic, the second line is more or less poking at people who complain about little things. ...but them little mints ARE really tastey

Hotel was great. Good room, good breakfast (price was right), and good bar. Now, if only we could get the the furniture outlet store on board with crazed SVX'ers using their parking lot for 0-80 acceleration runs, slalom runs, and lateral G donut tests, it would be perfect.
Once again, thanks to all who arranged it. posted from the Hotel Maurya Hilton, Delhi, India, aint technology f***ing insane.

I was very pleased with the Hotel. They were very accepting of our practices and the bar tender was thrilled to have some business I am sure. The only complaint I have is that for some reason I could not sleep well in the room. THe air seemed to stagnate and everything was just too still it was eery for me. I guess I am too used to being in Philadelphia . Anyway, next year I will bring a fan so that the air can move a little easier. I enjoyed my stay and the prices could not be beat. Thank you so much John for setting this up for us. Hopefully next year I will have time to get out there and maybe setup a few events like a rally. I would also suggest renting a GIANT tent ahead of time if weather is looking shotty at the beginning of the week. Would have been perfect if we had time to do that ahead of time this year. Maybe we can get the mall owners next year to allow us to close off the dragstrip so it would be sanctioned for us to have a few "runs" instead of keeping one eye on the road and the other looking for the cops

I think the fact they never *****ed about our tents and repair work on thier lot speaks about them. I'll send in Kelli to distract the mall rat and we can run some decent speed trials! Sorry, I'm supposed to be on the other side...

If they were really accomadating they would have let us bring the cars inside too. We could have had the tech sessions on the tile area so we didnt stain the carpet too. Also, I request they keep the herd of 12 year old buffalo on the first floor next year. The hour long stampede at 2am in the room above me was rather annoying Last edited by mikecg; 04-24-2006 at 08:08 PM. |

Even though I complained to you privately about our room, while we were there, both Rosie and I agree that we should hold Reading VIII at the Morgantown HI again. Once the initial probs. with the room were corrected, all went well. I especially liked the fact that the bartender did not care that I was BYOBing it in the bar with the scotch. We think that the bad weather had a positive effect on the group. The motor heads were under the canopy doing their thing and enjoying themselves immensely, while the non-tech gifted congregated inside and to discuss different things and got to know one another. All in all, the poor weather allowed everyone to find their own comfort zone.
