Message from the Admin (re: banned, posts, & problems)

This is a public service announcement from your friendly founder/administrator:

As most of you have likely seen already, incidents have taken place in a public environment that have involved name calling, implied threats (legal or otherwise), slander, opinions, facts, and just plain old dirty laundry. I have received many PMs and praises from people in the past that have noted two very important assets about this place, notably lack of spam/clutter/pop-ups/advertisements, and the heavy hand of the staff in actively preventing bonfires of hate.

From time to time, things happen and they accelerate faster than the staff can keep the flames at bay, and thusly the SVXWN family has to endure the tarnished look of a forum of flames. When this happens the overall spirit of the network is degraded and time to repaint the walls and clean up the mess is required.

We are at this point now, and I would like to apologize for not taking a more active approach on preventing this event. My time in trying to migrate to the new server to open expanded features is only an excuse, and worth less than a nickel.

When the bar brawl inside the clubhouse breaks out, everyone feels the need to jump in. The ones not involved still end up with beer in their faces, billiard tables busted and unusable, and their favorite watering hole closed for repairs. This is not fair to you, the general SVXWN family/community.

Now, the bouncers have moved the dispute outside where it should have happened to begin with and we must all just ignore the event and move on. We must help with repairs and try not to let the gossip of opinions and rumors continue to drain the overall asset of our community and destroy what this place is really here for.

I am not going to point fingers or quote incidents and names. I will however say that I will do my very best to deal with the situation in a manner that I feel is fair and will be collaborated with the other staff that assist me in running this place. In the position I am in, its very easy to become the heavy handed dictator, and I do hope that no one here feels that is the case. To be honest, a lot of collaboration happens behind doors and not out in public when dealing with such issues. Major decisions around here are voted upon and I reserve my right to a VETO, but to date I have yet to use it. I go with the majority and try to keep my staff in positions of authority with even percentages of influence on direction.

The actions taken earlier in this particular event, were backed by a majority of officers. I am however planning on taking some additional steps with all actions that lead to a permanent ban (this event and future ones).

All parties involved in the issues that has brought this problem upon us, will be contacted in the most personal form possible. We will hear their complaints and any related facts. Notes will be taken, and questions asked. When completed, a non-hasty decision will be made with the interest focused on the continued growth of the SVXWN community and the services we try to provide here. Hear-say, opinions, and overall issues not related to the SVXWN will be ignored and or thrown out.

With this said, I hope that you the members of this community, will continue your faith in me, my staff and what we are trying to accomplish and maintain. I have worked so hard to build and maintain a place with so much love for the SVX, I would hate to loose it for any reason. Any decisions that we have to make, we do so in your faith to maintain what we all love so much, the Subaru SVX.

Sincerely,
Chris Townsend
