Two bad tranys to make a good one???
Just curious, I have a 4EAT trany from 98 forester with a bad front differential. And I have a chance to buy a 95 SVX with bad trany but good front differential.
Can I swap the good diff. to the good forester trany and bolt it on the SVX? Thanks

You would have to swap rear diffs as well, because the Forester and SVX have different differential gears. THe SVX would be fine with it, but the Forester would not like the 3.54 gears. 98 Foresters were in the 165 HP ballpark, it'll barely move.

Mr. pilot, I thinks you need to re-read the op...
I forget exactly when they swapped to the phase 2 trannies with the vtd thing or whatever...but basicly, if the forester DOESNT have the spin on filter, t means its the same style trans as the svx..meaning, yes, you could frankienstien the trannies, but keep in mind patterning the gears for the front diff is going to be a huge pain in the butt
