New to forum and need some opinions on SVXs.
Hey all. I'm a 26yo guy stuck out in the middle of nowhere Oklahoma and am an aspiring auto tech. I found two SVXs for sale nearby and would love to get some feedback from people who know more about the SVX than I do.
Here's what he's selling: Green '95 SVX- Perfect body, paint and glass, good interior, no rust, 130,000 miles. Seller says it needs to rev high before it will shift and sounds to me like it may have lost 3rd and 4th gear. Probably needs tranny replaced. Silver/black '92 SVX- Perfect body, paint and glass, leather interior, no rust, 93,000 miles. Seller says it's mechanically perfect but his grandson replaced the battery and hooked up the terminals backwards causing the TCU to burn out. Seller is asking $2,000 for both. I would love to get one running fairly easily for the 10 mile round trip drive to work every day while having the other as a project car. Just don't know if the seller is full of crap. Should I invest in these or should I just hunt down one for sale elsewhere? Any help with this would be appreciated. |

Sounds like a solid buy. You'll see here trannys are somewhat common problems. The fuse box thing...my friend Tom'sSVX had done the exact same thing, might want to ask him what he did to fix it. Midaswell ask him about trannys too
Welcome to the forums

How do i answer this....
It sounds like you have found a H#LL of a deal!!!!!!!! As long as the cars are what/how they are represented. You can do a trans upgrade for less than $1200 if you do it yourself, and rewire a car yourself for less money, but prob more time... If you need advice/instructions for trans swaps they are in my signature, and if you pass on these, please tell us, (me) more so these beautiful cars can be saved!!!!! Thank you. Tom

Thanks for such quick answers! I fell in love with the SVX when I was a teen and saw one for the first time. I know they're rare and to come across two for sale so cheap and in such good condition, I wanted to jump at the chance. I thought I should get better educated on the cars before making an impulse buy though.
I'll pick these beauties up either Monday or Wednesday afternoon and get some pics to post or give the details of where they can be found if for some strange reason, I'm unable to purchase them! |

Welcome to the site. Yes, it sounds like a great deal. You should be able to get both of these running, or buy them both and then get one running right away and work on the other after you fall in love with these incredable cars. Good luck and hope to be able to see you get these both running.
