congrats on getting the tranny in.
should have helicoiled/tapped for starter first, but you may be able to still do it. Just get the trans jack under there and slide the trans back on the studs just enough to tap the hole. use a magnet to mitigate the amount of metal shavings getting down in there (not good for bearings or seals).... -edit- and as for the axle issue... the ring on the stub needs to be positioned like open end down, it jams in the splines. rotate half a rotation when/if it stops moving while you continue to push in

on the 2nd picture on the first page, are those two rubber bushings the studs go through replacable? has anyone done that? mine are broke. thanks

The axle with the toothed ring is the stock STi axle and the other is a SVX axle

no dice. The axles seals on the hub are different diameters. You are going to need to use the stock SVX axles. Sorry man

Yeah, we had to do this to Gest24's trans too. You need to pop out the side plates from the transmission one at a time, switch the seals with ones from an SVX automatic(should order new ones) and then reinstall the plates to their original position. These should be done one side at a time to ensure you do not upset the gear's position
