A touareg pulls a 747 - video
A stock touareg pulls a 747. Wow, it really is one of my favorite SUVs. It is amazing that the chasis is so strong.

Its also amazing how the german's have taken over from the British on how to not wire a car. Oh and that Touareg is now getting its tranny rebuilt for the 3rd time too.

Well I'll take a new Mercedes Unimog, not beef it up, and tow that 747 the opposite direction with the 6.6L duramax Silverado still attached and pulling. I'll also be able to drive the Unimog all the way home with the 6.6L duramax Silverado pulling the other way.

WOOT Unimog!
Now my question: Exactly (and I mean exactly, which model precisely) kind of plane is that? Cause I've seen my share of 747's, and I have NEVER seen one like that. Look at the engines, a 747 has two mounted seperately on each wing. The plane shown has two mounted together on each wing. Plus the wingspan looks much too short for a 747. I shall investigate further. Any other aviation types want to chime in? AlcyoneDaze?

I've been going through pictures on ailiners.net, probably the biggest single source of aviation pictures in existance, and I can't find anything on that plane. I swear I've seen it in a movie before though, and it was a mock-up for that. No 747 has engine pods like that.
My secondary point is how in the hell did they put 4.3 tons of weight into that car? Seriously! First, wouldn't 4 tons pancake that SUV flat onto the ground? It's suspension doesn't seem to be that significantly compressed. And second, how can you physically cram 4 and a half tons of weight into the trunk and rear seat of an SUV? Now I know! I've seen that plane in a movie. Can't remember which one, but it's in a scene at an airport where there's a fuel truck rigged to explode driving around and it's supposed to drive into this prototype jetliner, but then the good guy stops it. Anyone remember which movie that is? Airport chase scene...? Anywho, as far as I'm concerned that Toureg add is a hoax.

I'm betting it has comparable power to this thing.

Comparable power to an 18-wheeler in first gear? Because that's basically what that tug is. I know the TDI V10 is good for 500+ ft-lbs, but it's going through a transmission meant for driving. The big airport tugs are in the 700-800 ft-lbs range with a first gear that maxes at 2 or 3 MPH.

Never thought that you guys could dig so much. How could it be a hoax especially from fifth gear? If yes, are they going to sue VW?
I am just amazed that the touareg's chasis is so rigid. It really is a safe SUV to drive. haha. That touareg is the V10 5.0 TDI version. The air suspension is standard on that thing. Maybe the air suspension will adjust the height by itself. As for the airplane, I agree with the engines are so close. I think/maybe, they work with the extra airplane from a flim company instead of towing a real one. The airplane I heard was from the movie "Casino Royale"?
