Spot to tap for oil
Hey, I am planning on doing my turbo(finally after almost selling), I would like your guys' input on the best spot to tap the pan for oil, that and what do you guys think about temp running it with out a FMIC, i have a TMIC STi unit but there is NO way that thing will ever fit anywhere... also, I know most shops wrap the up pipe and what not, do you guys think its a good idea, and the last thing(thanks for sticking with me) is what diameter pipes do you think i should use for the up and down pipes, I was thinking 2.5 for the up, and maybe 3 for the down... or should I just run full 3inch across the board, I mean exhaust pressure shouldn't be much of a concern seeing as the size turbo I am using, so I doubt I will have a problem spooling it up either way.
Thanks for your input, Chris

By far teh easiest way to pull oil, and allow for an oil cooler/pressure gauge later, is by using the greddy oil filter adapter. Is what im using
Good luck with the project. Please though, dont go through with using the TDO4L compressor as its entirely too small. I have expressed my opinion to you on this matter with graphs before, but here it is one more time. Here is the Rev range for TDO4L-13g phil

Here is my FMIC install, but it was too small for my axial vane SC.

Oiling
I used what Phast showed you. I also added a tube and fin oil filter. My oil lasts longer now with the turbo than before the turbo! I use a return through a head plug on the back of the engine. Just remove the plug and install a fitting threaded on one end and a hose nipple on the other. Seems to work great. Ran the car with the turbo for a few thousand miles with no problems. This is a lot shorter of a run than running it to the pan, although that will work too.
