by the end of next semester ill be finished my philosophy major but....
i still need some 70 credits to graduate, after which im planning on going to graduate school for a phd in philosophy, what to do? im split on a music instrumental track major, physics/engineering dual major, and conflict resolution. music would be nice but will i use it? i know i can use conflict resolution but aside from that i have no motivation to go into that field. physics and engineering has always been a hobby of mine since i was a child, so that would be fun. i dont know. my adviser is pressuring me into decided on another field of study and i cant decide. it took a year for me to become a philosophy major which (if i dont fail any courses) ill have finished in 3 semesters. what would you do?

What are you planning to do with a Phd in Philosophy? Years ago I was visiting my friend while he was working on his Doctorate in Logic. We went to a party filled with his friends from the philosophy/logic department (it wasn't as boring as it sounds ) and the joke of the night was "How do you get rid of a Philosophy Grad??? ---Pay him for the pizza, and give him a $2 tip for the delivery"

prepositional logic is the only philosophy class i have failed, to date. if all a's are b's and some b's are c's ergo all a's are b's and c's. |

University of Nevada, Las Vegas has a great Beer appreciation class that is given by their Hotel Management department. It may broaden your horizons.

You are in the middle of a huge desert, where it's hot, and dry, and you have to take a class to appreciate BEER!?!?

Monk!
engineering/physics with a minor in philosophy (I actually work with a very senior systems engineer that has this "mix" - he's one of the best at working with engineers and scientists and coming up with great solutions) -Bill

Stay away from engineering. There are too many of them in the world as it is which is why the world looks as horrible as it does since they profession just can't understand aesthetics just funcionality. Really an education isn't about getting a job, nor should it be it should be about rounding out ones mind. I say pick the subject you're weakest in and go for it. The "I went to school to get me a good job" mentality only works in the short term as society is always evolving but the only thing that'll take your education away from you is insanity or possibly someone with a baseball bat. I use my degrees on a daily basis but could do the same job (of course not as well) with nothing more than a pre-school education.
