Help and ideas for Reading 14, April 2013
I'm looking for ideas of what people would like to see at Reading next year and also some volunteers to work on a committee to help plan and organize what I hope will challenge Reading IX's claim as "Best Reading Ever".
Some things gathered from previous years and other threads; - Group Drive (Covered Bridges) - Group Drive (Hershey Antique Auto Museum) - Group drive (local nice driving roads) - Group drive (Winery visit) - Drag at Maple Grove - Dinner - Concourse Judging - Raffle - How To/Service sessions - Buffing - Paintless dent removal - Rally - Subaru/SVX trivia game - ???

Shoot me a PM, Dave. I'm willing to help out as much as I can to get this off the ground for next year. Even if I am still sans SVX I still plan to attend, come hell or high water

The brewery tour was cool. I know it wouldn't pan as a great annual event, but if you're forming a list of potentials for Readings to come...

A group PDR would be a cool. Winery also sounds neat. (says the guy who hasn't shown up to Reading in a while, but plans to get his car running again)

Re: Help and ideas for Reading 14, April 2013
At the Reading before last, about 8 of us took off for tour of the Strasburg Railroad Museum. Nobody b****ed, despite my GPS taking a very long scenic route. Perhaps if we included a choo-choo train ride, with a contrived photo-op, we'd do a nice salute to transportation.
Ron.

Re: Help and ideas for Reading 14, April 2013
1. Parking lot badminton or volleyball or wiffle ball or flag football or ultimate frisbee or "kick the can" (for those at the first Reading)
2. A roast of one of the old timers 3. Photo contest (We all go to the Walmart to see who can get the best "people of Walmart" pictures on our cell phones) 4. A debate on which is better, turbo or supercharger 5. Pig roast (not to be confused with #2...or #3) 6. Round table discussion on what the BLEEP really is wrong with the tranny and what mods are beneficial and/or safe 7. Ugliest feet contest 8. Moscato tasting (really, they don't all taste the same and there is one open in my fridge right now that is a RED wine) 9. Cannoli eating contest 10. Lessons on how to revive someone from a diabetic coma 11. Guess my breathalyzer reading contest (everyone goes and we see who is best at guessing, on average) 12. Water ballon fight (assuming it is warm) 13. Strip poker (every time you lose a hand you have to remove a part from your car) 14. Cruise to the mountain top which is red when god is there 15. Dino pulls (Tom dresses up in a Barney outfit and stands on rollerskates as we drag him around the parking lot) 16. Round table discussion on what the BLEEP you were thinking when you bought your first SVX 17. Photo-op of everyone doing a "Whitesnake" pose on their SVX Oh, crap, I just went and gave ideas again. What the hell was I thinking and why are people asking for ideas again?

2) If we set ONE old timer on fire he would burn for days!Ron! 3) OR we could just cameras to steal the souls of the Amish! 4) Supercharger. DONE! 5) A pig roast is a GREAT idea, but has to be done somewhere other than the parking lot, a local park perhaps. 6) Bring several legal pads and some pens. 7) You are a very strange man, Tony. 8) Asti tasting, check! 9) Whats a "cannoli?" 10) Thin the herd. 11) Highest number for hte win?! 12) Whats a "ballon"? 13) My Claret is already striped! 14) God likes the hi-ground. Its a tactical advantage. 15) Purple fur and "Drag" are not words usually associated with Tom. 16) Buy an SVX they said. It will be fun. Link please... 17) What is a Whitesnake?

Re: Help and ideas for Reading 14, April 2013
Souls were only stolen when 35mm film was used. Souls can't be stored on a flash drive.......silly. Even the cameras were better at Reading I!!! We just have these fake, non-soul stealing gadets!

How about too, a "drive to dine" on Friday night for those that can arrive on Friday? Doesn't have to be far and could be a MICKY D's even .... We could have our own impromptu car show for the locals!! And of course on Sat night dine and drive as well. I do think we should be careful about not "OVERDOING it - there really isn't a great deal of time in the weekend if people head back home on Sunday morning ...... My 2 cents ... Harry

Dave, as you know, I have no problem taking care of the raffle this year. I think we definitely need to have some type of schedule posted a couple weeks before the weekend. Even if we don't stick directly to it, or certain things extend longer, at least people can have a better idea. Especially for group dinners, hopefully getting a group picture again (it's been missing since Reading 10), and if there is anything else that's decided to do as a group. Possibly having printed versions to hand to people when they sign in. (Hopefully we can get some type of sign in sheet/board again-doesn't have to be as fancy as the ones in much earlier Readings, but something like Reading 10) |

Agreed. One of my fondest memories.
