Oil Change Question
So is it best to get those oil plug crush rings directly from Subaru or can they be picked up at an Autozone?

Re: Oil Change Question
Of course they still charge about a buck apiece.

Re: Oil Change Question
I finally opened up my package with the Oil Plug Crush Rings today and I was surprised to find that they are metal. I guess I was expecting a rubber ring.
I just want to verify that they are right before I get started. The package is listed as GSKT-DRAIN PLUG 11126AA000

Re: Oil Change Question
That is the correct part. They are designed for one-time use.

Re: Oil Change Question
But as long as you have extras that one will never leak. The first time you change it without having a spare it'll leak like the valdez.

Re: Oil Change Question
I bought 5, for the amount of miles I drive the SVX that should last a year.

Re: Oil Change Question
Same here. I only change it if it is "weeping" which probably averages every 4 or 5 times.

Re: Oil Change Question
Does FRAM make that special valve for our cars? (the one that uses a hose fitting that opens a spring valve). This would eliminate the crush ring replacement.

I have one on my Legacy, been using it for 5 yrs now without a drip. Try the one with a hose nipple, slipping a short length of hose on with the other end in the drain pan. No muss no fuss, and better quality than anything from FRAM, imo. Glenn Well heck! I see they don't list fitment for the 3.3L. I just emailed them to inquire about it.

I have the one with a nipple on my Brat. They don't extend too far, but I would avoid the one with the nipple on an SVX, ground clearance isn't all that much to begin with...
