Which of your 7 'sences' could you do without??

I have spent the most of the last 3 days with 'eye' doctors.
As I was driving to the hardware store to get some screws for the latest home improvement, I turned on the wipers to get the 'mist' off of the windshield.
Nothing changed...

I called my eye doc that had done my exam on wed, ( 20-20) and told him what was happening. He had me back into his office on thursday, gave me a number in case it got worse, and said to 'take it easy for a few dats'.

I woke up this,( fri) am, looked out the window and said to myself. " It's foggy out", Then I closed my right eye, and looked again. It was NOT foggy out!

I called the DR, and was sent to an 'optimoligest' 75 miles away. and was given about 1 hour to get there!

The results of 2 hours of testing was, "you are getting old",, Things are wearing out!

I'm only 1/2 way to 108, I surely can't be wearing out YET!!

I told the Doc, ( who was about the same age as my oldest CHILD), that if someone cut off a leg or arm, I would survive, and thrive. but if my EYES were gone, EVERYTHING about my world would change!

I had a similar conversation with a man that had been blind since birth about 4 years ago. He asked me" which of my sences could i do without the most"?

I told him, " anything but sight". 3 days later, I was rushed to the emergency room with an 'optic' ( whatever the problem was) thing, that shut me down for a MONTH!!

The entire center of my vision looked like I was looking through water, and the outline of 'invisible' birds were flying through the area that USED to be populated by 'what was actually there'

It was called (spelling not a factor) Optic- nuralgia, or something close.
an infection in the optic nerve that shot the center of my visionand the only treetment was , either waiting it out, or an 'inpatient, steroide drip for 30 days' ( I waited) it went away.....


Has any of you youngsters ever experienced any of this crap???

I had a SK Breaker bar break (the pin in the head broke) under load, and the pin shot out and hit me right in the left pupil ...hurt like nothing I'd ever felt, instantly lost total vision in that eye....thought is was gone for good, but initially was internal bleeding in my eye, and the blood clouded the fluid and kept light from getting through....after several days, the blood cleared out, but left me with vision like looking trough wax paper in that eye...the pin had caused a "Trauma Induced Cataract" in my left eye…
SO I ended up having to have the lens in my eye cut out, and replaced with a false lens.
Now I can see out of it, but it is like a cheap camera, and it is a fixed lens, and doesn’t focus…it is set to see distant, so everything up close is a blur out of it, but does great for most things, and I read with my other eye

So I went from better than perfect vision, to blind in one eye to “OK” vision during that year…..so I’d have to agree, sight is the sense that I’d most miss if taken away completely.
Before that happened to me, I hardly ever thought about how important sight is…

Safety Glasses…wear them

I wore mild prescription glasses for years but when things started getting blurry I went for a new presciption. They said I had cateracts and referred me to an eye surgeon. Had both lenses replaced, fortunately one at a time. Not only could I see without glasses, every color was brighter and white wasn't yellow. He said it was from the bright Florida sun. Always wear sun glasses. I thought a lot about sight and not being able to drive and enjoy the world. I'll keep all 7 senses if the Lord is willing.

My formerly alive cat actually clawed me across the face over my left eye once, and within about 30 seconds all I could see out of that eye was a single shade of grey, sort of like primer. It cleared in about 5 minutes, but that was probably the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me. I'm a pilot, so I'm VERY protective of my eyes. I always wear sunglasses, never work with power tools without eye protection, all that fun stuff. Sight isn't something I fool around with.

I'd give up taste any day, although the nose doesn't work well so it wouldn't be much different for smell...Eye site yeah I'm with all of on that one that would be the one to keep

Well after having 409 sprayed in my right eye in high school(got in a fight over it) and was blinded by that stuff for over 2 weeks. Also my sense of taste and smell were gone for a month after a radiator blew up in my face-all I could taste or smell was antifreeze and numerous other explosions not all my fault I can still see,smell,taste,walk and breathe. I also had 3 motorcycle wrecks with no broken bones...................yet.
