Yes manual swap was on my svx, I really dont miss having abs, all it did was drop the pedal to the floor and try to kill me anyway.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

bishop,

Those headlight lens turned out really nice! Are you applying any clear/selaer to keep them that way, if so what? What method did you use to separate the lens from the housing?

Sanded 80, 120, 220, 320, 600, 1200, 2000, 2500, 3000, cut & polish. Still building up layers of clear coat to polish back down to perfect.

Baked in the oven at 200 for about 15-20 minutes, to reassemble just do the same and press them back together. I didnt do it for long enough so the glue was still a bit stringy.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

why take the lens off the headlight housing?
You are just polishing the fronts, no need to take them apart and risk leaks.
I took my headlights out and polished them while they remained intact.
baking 20 year old plastic in itself, makes the plastic all that more vulnerable/fragile...

Insides were full of cobwebs and dirt, i could shake it and hear everything rattling around, wanted to make sure they were clean inside and out.

Blew a brake line before the right rear wheel.
Looking into having the new one re-routed to avoid dropping the transmission, subframe and gas tank.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

about a month back I used some mild rubbing compound on the BRAT, which stripped off all the old wax. Well, it has been sitting out for the month with no protection to the paint. I had to re-do the hood just to get fly specs and sap that was stuck off. Then yesterday I finally got a day to get some wax on it. Not bad for paint that is now 30 years old.

glad I put the topper (Brat hat) on a few weeks ago, leaves are falling daily and last year I got stuck with a bed full of leaves and crud, that froze down.
