I think wheels would look good painted silver or a light gun metal grey.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Been using my SVX a lot for work over the last few days while my other car is in the shop. Yesterday I did a 400 mile roundtrip to NJ and back. More miles in 1 day than I normally put on the SVX in a month but it felt good to give it a proper workout.

My day started at 6am in 14 degree temperatures, and when I went to put my bag in the car I found that the passenger door was frozen shut, which is weird since usually the drivers side door is the one has freeze issues but that one was fine. Since I really didn't need the passenger door I didn't bother trying to fight it open and just got in an left. After about 30 minutes of highway driving the seat belt light started flashing which was confusing since my seat belt was already on, and really I never remembered the car prompting to buckle before. As this is happening I'm thinking (or over thinking) that I will need to look at my spare parts bin to see if I have a seatbelt computer, when suddenly the passenger auto belt started going down then up then down etc. Finally I realized the door had unfroze and was slightly open. Pulled over and properly closed the door. The rest of the trip was smooth sailing with the SVX driving well.

The SVX is good highway beast, I find the seats very comfortable, the visibility around you is good, and in general just a pleasure to drive. I feel very conscience of the car while I am driving it. I seem to always be thinking about the little nuances of it while I am behind the wheel in way that I am not in other cars. Maybe I just care about it more.

I do miss the 3.54 gears of the original tranny on the highway, it really seemed to glide through those miles where as the 4.44 has more of the feel of a brute with the higher revs, but the 4.44 reliability is worth the trade off. I also have to say that I wish I could just mount the EZ pass on the windshield instead of having to open the sunroof and hold it out, approaching one interchange I almost dropped it. (I refuse to bumper mount it.)

I would have liked to record my fuel economy for the trip but the gas station I stopped at was ridiculously expensive for premium gas [almost a dollar more than regular] when I noticed that, I decided not to fill it all the way back up and just put in what I needed to get home.

Anyhow that was my day with the SVX, all in all no I didn't actually do anything to the SVX so I am violating the spirit of the thread title, but just thought I would share a few thoughts.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

in the past week and a half I have done a few things to the svx. first changed out the rear diff bushings, I bought a set of poly bushings from David in Manitoba, Thanks again they are a night and day difference.
Then on the day I planned on changing the diff bushings my front U joint broke on my driveshaft, lucky for me it was just after a red light so I was barely moving. It did end up bending the gear selector lever so until I fixed it what the gear selector on the floor said was not matching with the dash and the car would not go into park at all.
Thanks to Icingdeath in tampa I got a good driveshaft, mine was shot all the way through the center cv was pitiful. Soon as I get back from a big subaru meet in tampa on the 15th the 6 speed swap is underway, I have ordered most of the parts and will be picking up the last of them at that meet. BTW Jackie at Annapolis Subaru is awesome.
Ok on to a couple pics.
New bushings in place

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Big weekend for my SVX..

I built a cup holder into the centre console (Picture attached). Replaced my TCU & ECU with EcuTune modifications. Replaced my front door speakers and tweeters. Cleaned & siliconed my drivers side seatbelt (It now retracts properly!). Performed the 15 Minute Mod. Installed a remote control to my steering column for my car stereo (Remote is Sony RM-X4S). Replaced pads on inner and outer stabilizers on my front windows (so my glass stops getting scratched). Cleaned Rear seats and floor mats. Modified my coin holder (added a wire across the front of it, in photo) to stop coins flying at me when I accelerate quickly. Thats about it I think :-)

Nice job on the cup holder! I'm actually making an insert that is sturdier than the flimsy plastic ones we have now. I can't stand it when you remove your coffee cup and the holder comes up with it. Yours is a better solution!

Hey Daniel, you should show them what it was before it became a cup holder.

Cool Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Hey Daniel, if you had got hold of the USA console you could have fitted 2 cup holders in the arm rest - as the USA one actually extends fully towards the rear seat......they are only able to fit 4 "larger" people in the car - not like us poor cousins down under where some SVXs have 5 seat-belts fitted.

An SVX with snow tires, *%@# YEAH!
I drove through this snow storm like a knife through butter, a hot knife that is.
I love my car!

They plowed me in at work.. 8" of snow. Snow up to the bumpers. Pulled out the clutch and it went right through. Do they make a plow rig for this car
