Re: Some Troubleshooting help please

I would suggest going with a Subaru part however. They're about the same price or cheaper compared to most aftermarket and never an issue with them. I, as well as others, have had issues with some of the aftermarket sensors. |

Re: Some Troubleshooting help please
I would go for the Temp sensor. The popping out the intake, is a lean mixture, so the temp reading must be off a bit.
Harvey.

Re: Some Troubleshooting help please
This is the Temp Sensor at the top of the engine. Just abaft of the Alternator? and before (and below) the intake manifold?

Re: Some Troubleshooting help please
It sounds very similar to the problem I had on and off for months, it turned out to be the cam sensor on the side of the engine (not the top front one) it didn't throw a code until it was properly on it's last legs.

Re: Some Troubleshooting help please
Mine is the same, even after I changed the temperature sensor. I have found that on the very odd time that she doesn't startthat flooring the accelerator then cranking it will have it firing every time. Just something you might try rather than continually cranking.

Re: Some Troubleshooting help please
For one week the car started normally. I took a short trip to Yellowstone on my motorcycle and when I came back the SVX started just fine for a day of going to the store and running errands. I let the car sit for two days and then nothing.. it just cranks...no pops, no stutters.... Nothing. This seems like more of a fuel or starter problem than the crank or temp sensor...but tomorrow I'm going to start to tear into it things... I'm going to check the fuel filter..the wiring to the sensors and the spark from stem to stern. Could this really be a crank or cam sensor problem?
I'll let you know when she's running again... in the mean time any input at all will be read and examined.

Re: Some Troubleshooting help please
Mine would do the same...it would not start at all and when it did would run rough and cut out, other times it would start and run perfectly.
It didn't throw the cam sensor code until it finally refused to start at all.

Re: Some Troubleshooting help please
Ok...first.... fuel pump is ok... and the fuel filter is not blocked... next...will be checking spark & ignition. I know you guys said it seem like a sensor...but... that just doesn't seem right with the symptoms .... but I've been wrong before.
It will just not start now...it cranks..but that's all..no pops, no kicks...

Re: Some Troubleshooting help please
That's the one I had to replace and I've had no problems at all since.

Re: Some Troubleshooting help please
ok...here's another question to you knowing gentlemen and ladies.
I pulled the Crank Sensor off a parts car.... along with a temp sensor .. Then I pulled the cam angle sensor off my car. The Crank angle sensor and the cam angle sensor look the same. fit interchangeably and have the same JECS A29-000-R00 stamped on them...the only difference seems to be the serial number stamped on the other side 1510 on the donor crank sensor and 3702 on my cam sensor... Is there a difference? are they using the same sensor in both places?
