Way Cool!!

I hope you do not have the same issues with the front. I figured the mounting of the subframes was going to be the hardest part and I am sure it will be still. Good luck guys

The front mounting is going to be tricky but we are going to use the front sub frame, we need to use the wrx one because of the power steering, but we may end up using the steering column out of the svx, also the brake boosters are identical, the only thing that we are woried about is getting the axles in the same place.

The brake boosters are not the same. The WRX booster has a shorter rod on it which will work best with the new pedal assembly you will be using with the 5mt. So use the wrx booster. Good luck and ask questions if you don't know, we should be able to help

Tom

P.S. pictures are always good too

Standing ovation for your project!

With all the svx projects available, it's great to see one like this. Many have had thoughts of installing a turbo four, but thoughts are not action.

Is the color Subaru World Rally Racing Blue? We want to repaint our Teal WRB. Perfect colore for a turbo SVX.

As for the black across the top of the fenders, we plan to do that to Jon's silver car. Great to see that on your car.

Bravo!

I love this project... the EJ257 is a great motor to get a very fast SVX on the road w/o all the headaches of aftermarket forced induction.

My WRX has the same EJ257 block w/ WRX heads, a TD05-20G turbo, and water injection and I'm around 315hp and 300ftlbs, and my car is *fast*. Granted the WRX is about 500 lbs lighter than the SVX (3300 lbs w/ driver at the last time-trials weigh in), but that SVX will still haul the mail, and should hopefully be more bullet-proof than a modded SVX making the same power.

It's not a lot of work to get that motor into the 300/300 crank power/torque range, and all of the work is well known and debugged. If you're not worried about trading in the "uniqueness" of the EG33 for the uniqueness of an EJ SVX, I'd say this is a sweet way to go.

I will let you guys know how the hub swap and the rear diff swap goes this saturday, I don't think that we will be doing the fab for the front subframe ourselves, we have someone with a tig welder that will do it for us. I will let you know how hard it is going to be when we get the subframe up and I will post some pics of it in there when we get it up.

wait a sec... Now will the engine still be in the same place?? Meaning, will the rear of the engine still be the same height/lateral position?? This will be your hardest thing if you want to keep the alignment of things in order. That is why utylizing the SVX subframe is probobly the best thing for you to do. Just a suggestion

after a long two weeks, getting caught up with everything we finially got the engine jacked into place in the bay, and it looks like its possible, The only thing that looks iffy is the rear mounting point on the front control arm. We are ordering a set of tein ssp's tuesday and we shoudl get them in wednesday so I will let you know how that goes, Also we are doing the rear control arm swap hopefully this weekend and we will get the front subframe situated within a month. Then all thats left is wiring , but just to post some progress it is going great, expect some pics tomorow and wednesday of teh new pretty teins that are going in it and we have like 7 inches from the front of the engine so we have plenty of room for the front mount and the radiator.

here are some pictures that you guys may like, we have a lot of room in there and we can fit a pretty big fmic, and radiator, the only thing that is iffy is that we only have about an inch on each side of the engine to do stuff like change the plugs but its the same in my sti so it shouldn't be that big of a deal as long as we get a fan on it which shouldn't be a problem with the fifty billion feet that we have infront of the engine, also the placement is not final

Looks like a little ectoplasm got loose in the second pic.

Nice work, otherwise.

and where did you end up getting the camber/caster plates from? Looks like all you had to do was open up the bolt holes to get them to work.
