Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

You're in luck then, Reberto.
Since you're putting in a Subaru Forester radio the sub harness plugs into that radio no problem.
You will need the forward adapter to connect to the SVX's radio plug coming from inside the dashboard.
Get a pre-wired adapter from Dave Carter (he has a wide selection of options) to splice to the Sub harness or just get the connector and move the pins.

http://ae64.com/Ordering.htm

Let us know how it all shakes out. I'm glad I did it. Mounting under the passenger seat fills the car with strong lows or thumps as the music requires. And in fact I had to adjust the sub gain level lower to get a decent balance with the cabin speakers.

As for the breakout box, my 10 CD changer's FM modulator is screwed to the side of the transmission tunnel under the carpet in the passenger footwell. There's a lot of room for coiled up cables and components under there...not so much on the driver side where the antenna connections are.
Another thing you'll need is a short antennae extender cable from the radio to the RCA connectors under the carpet.
The Forester Radio is not diversity so it's up to you and testing whether to connect to the retractable antenna or the one imbedded in the back glass. One or the other, do not use a Y joint to gang both antennas together - it confuses the radio.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Got my Claret back on the road finally . Pieced together a working driveshaft from a '96 Legacy and some bits of my old one. Now just need to address the very loud rumbling I presume is from the rear end....pinion bearing I'll bet.

btw, had to swap the center carrier bearing.....what a gigantic PITA!!

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

After doing the SRT Track Experience in Englishtown, NJ this weekend, my BBS wheels are off to Transwheel for a second complete refinish. Will take about 10 days, no charge. Getting BBS powdercoat materials from Germany.

Pics to come...

Thumbs up Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Pushed the climate control to 72. The air came on icy cold. Not bad for a 21 year old car still running on R-12. Guess I can keep it for another year.

Ron.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Took it out on a drive on some of the hilly country roads north and west of Princeton. What a joy it is to drive and what a terrific sound. The only slight negative is that the steering ratio is a bit slow. But, the handling is perfect. Dropping it off tomorrow to get 3M paint protection film on front bumpers, hood, and fenders and on the wing. Then off to get engine bay detailing and some upholstery refinishing.
