Re: soon to be back in a SVX again

today my SVX is getting a Leatherique treatment. I stopped and got a Paintbrush (made in Indonesia) at Theisen's vs the one at Wal Mart that was made in China.

It is all brushed on, and waiting for it to soak in in the warm day. Going to leave it on today and tomorrow, then clean it off with the 2nd product.

-I have had extremely good results using this stuff before… I am just about out of the stuff at this point…

my twin is on Ebay right now, looking really good, too bad I need to put a roof on my House...

Re: soon to be back in a SVX again

http://www.leatherique.com

just turned 70k

The seats definitely came out nice. They were dry and hard before the Leatherique. Brought them back to life, just like the stuff did in my 92 when i had it.
I used a paint brush for the first product, and really put in on thick. let it sit a day with temps above 70.
I used a spray bottle for the second product and wiped off with towel.

Re: soon to be back in a SVX again

On Saturday I decided to work on one of the things on the short list.
Fix the gas guage reading accuracy. It was showing darn near empty when I could still put 5 gallons in. First top half of the guage seemed pretty accurate, til the halfway point

So. I pulled the guts out of the tank, cleaned the contacts which were not really dirty, and adjusted the pressure of the contacts to make a little more firm pressure. Put it back together and will have to check on my next gas fill and go from there.

Re: soon to be back in a SVX again

A couple months ago I got new oring seals for my leaky power steering.
Today, I finally got the car out of the garage and replaced the O-ring at the tank to pump, old one was toast it broke upon removal and was massively wedge shaped.
Also, replaced the tiny oring at the high pressure line fitting on passenger side rack line.
Cleaned stuff off, and drove a few miles. Checked good don't see any drips now. Will report back again, going to degrease and power wash what I can get to a little later today or tomorrow.

Re: soon to be back in a SVX again

that did apparently fix the power steering leak, but now I have a leaky right side valve cover

Ordered new right side valve cover gaskets, plug seals, and grommits from Subaru….also ordered a new Master PW switch, as Subaru had a 31% off sale running

I'm very impressed with the Leatherique products, it looks like they did a wonderful job on your seat! They have a few projects posted on their site that were just amazing! I will definitely keep these in mind for the future, thanks for sharing!

here's a tip - after you slather on the Rejuvenator, put a trashbag over the back of the seats, and put one over the seat bottom (the best you can). park it out in the hot sun for a day. repeat as necessary.

you can even drive it with the trashbags on before you apply the Prestine Clean.

Re: soon to be back in a SVX again

Thank you! I take it that this is a better project for warm weather? I'm thinking of buying a set of leather seats from a junker for my daily driver and this would be a great way to refresh them. I also need to refinish two steering wheels and they have kits for that specifically that I would like to try out.

Re: soon to be back in a SVX again

yes the leatherique project is for a warmer day with sun.

for the rejuvenator/pristine clean kit, I was able to do my previous SVX, this SVX, and 2 front outback seats, and a few leather shift knobs. I don't have enough of either product left do do any more seats.

use plenty of both and follow the directions.

the first product, I dump in a little butter container, and use a bristle paint brush to apply it all over the leather seats and stitching just like directions. I paint it on pretty thick, but not so it runs off onto the carpet or side panels, it can dip down into the leather though. Let is sit and soak for a day in the sun when its warm. (clear trash bags over it will help it soak into the leather) also dont forget your headrests.

let it stay on over the night, then on the following warm day you go to step 2

The pristine clean the second product, you need to use quite a bit of it too, i use a squirt bottle for it, spray it on, wipe with some old bath towels, then i do that once more time with the second product in a quirt bottle, if you don't get all the first product off it can be a little tacky sticky feeling, but once you get it all off, it is very clean smooth and like new and will last a long long time, i have only done my cars once and it is all it takes it really does make it pretty much like new again.

-the first product, makes the leather really tacky sticky gummy feeling. the second product is what makes it come off and feel good and clean and smooth

Re: soon to be back in a SVX again

I got around to replacing the main master power window switch today.
I bought the bran new one on a 31% off Subaru warehouse sale from a online place.

Still, no rear windows working.
** I Swear they were working when I did buy purchase this car at first.

The reason i replaced the switch was the button for the passenger front was not quite right, it had a broken pivot, and although i could get the window to still work, figured just replace it with new…..so at this point, I am at a loss for why no rear windows.
I do have power seat function and sunroof functions.

I am tempted to sell my old master switch instead of hanging onto it.

Looked for fuses and there are none specific to the PW not on a 97

grrr. frustrated enough is correct, but not enough to dump the car yet.

Still waiting on the valve cover gaskets for right side…

Since this car has prior salvage branding, I might just use it for my backup winter car, if the Civic RT4wD i just acquired turn out not to be a very good winter warrior….

here is a reflection of the RT4WD winter car off the 1/4 panel
