Thanks, my first quote from Guardian was $270.30 installed.
I'll keep looking.

Re: FS: 2003 Subaru Outback

Yea dumb. What is under the tarp? Paint $2,000 not counting body work. Needs about $1,000s in parts. If you can get it from a junk yard. 200 hours labor. Was the car totaled? If it does not have a clear title you may not be able to save it. I am speaking from a state that won't allow junk on the high way. Even for free you will put more into it than you can buy a decent outback for. She said she was not willing to strip it. I was just looking at stuff you could easily remove and sell. Sorry.

Yes, Sean!
My 87 year old father really needs a 3.3 SUPERCHARGED SVX engine,
400#/300# coil overs, stainless steel lines, Red Stuff pads, in his already 4.44 equipped Outback Wagon to go to church on Sunday, really really fast!

Windshield, drivers mirror, passenger window, remove rattling heat shield, front O2 sensor, new front rotors, most likley left front fender, detail, check over, , , ,
The rest will buff right out!

87 and still driving = wow. What did he do for a living and did he live in the same area as you do now? My mother in law, 65, was just given a year to live due to stage 4 lung cancer. Clearly, smoking was the culprit. But I still find it curious as to what causes longevity. On that side of her family, her great grandparents lived into their 90s and one made it past 100. Her grandparents died in their 80s. Her father died at 54 and her mother probably won't make it out of her 60s. They are going in the wrong direction. Was it just smoking? Did environmental contamination and/or occupational exposure to toxins play a part? Were their diets not as good? Makes you wonder.....

I thought they already had a Outback with head gasket issues and you maybe purchased the car for the motor. However dropping a SVX engine in it is much better choice. Kudos for your creative thinking!

Seriously I'm glad to hear it will be put back on the road.

He was a machinest at Mesta Machine Company in Homestead PA, just outside of Pittsburgh FOREVER!!!!
Twelve hours a day, seven days a week cutting gears that were around thirty+ FEET in diameter, getting them true to within 0.003" of an inch!
His father passes away at 62, his mother was about 80.
My mother is 85.
In 1996 (I think) she was embarressed to have toppled a steel four cylinder ford engine out of her wheelbarrow while pushing it UPHILL to the end of their
200 foot long driveway for trash day.

My favorite story of my father is one day when I as a young boy was replacing his rear brakes, he was checking out the new fangled disc brakes on whatever import it was.
I hear, "Oh $hi+." I cut off my damn finger, tell your mother that she has to take me to the hospital.

The size 1, and gray is to indicate his level of excitement......

It was like, golly, I steped in a puddle.
