Re: New Aftermarket Windshield.. .
Hi everyone, What a great day for the SVX owner. For the owner that can't hack the$1000/$1200 OEM windshield a non-coated windshield sure beats picking bugs off your teeth. A great job done by everyone. Yah. I've had to buy one myself. One for the good guys! Take care, BOBB

Re: New Aftermarket Windshield.. .
I recently had my windscreen replaced - I'm in Aus, so the supplier/fitter aren't really relevant, but...
The replacement glass I sourced isn't titanium coated and nor could I find one with bronze tint (mine's a '92). Didn't matter so much for mine as I had the windows retinted at the same time, but I did have a heck of a time finding glass with a blue/grey tint accross the top rather than the standard (at least in Aus) green. Glass specs varied, but the one I went with has a 99% UV rating which is (at least so I was told) the main purpose of the titanium coating - to protect the interior. The company that did mine fabricated a new moulding/gasket for it that can be reused - they were told by Subaru here it wasn't available seperately, as was I. Upshot: I'm really happy with the result. The top corners of the windscreen moulding don't sit exactly flush with the moulding of the door windows in the upper corners, but as horcrest said earlier its something only an svx'er might notice. Wish I'd known at the time the moulding is available seperately and if I had to replace again I would try and source one. Still though, its possible there'd be the slight gap anyway given that an aftermarket glass is just that, so won't necessarily be to exact spec. Will try and post a pic later. Tania.

Re: New Aftermarket Windshield.. .
Last year when I got my glass replaced (paid $280) I couldnt find a gasket anywhere. I believe we even had a thread going here about it.
The installer re-used the gasket but did a hack job removing it from the old glass. So now I have a gasket thats coming off in several areas. I managed to safely remove the gasket off my parts car glass and have one on standby now. But if these are available brand new, I might buy one. Heck, for $38 I might buy 2 |

Re: New Aftermarket Windshield.. .
Well, I ordered two new windshield gaskets. But, my local auto glass doesn't show any glass except oem. Doe anyone have the numbers or source for the aftermarket glass?

Re: New Aftermarket Windshield.. .
Received the windshield "dam" today from Liberty Subaru...it is not the molding/gasket. It is some self adhesive open-cell foam rubber that must fit between windshield and opening...

Re: New Aftermarket Windshield.. .
Well that stinks... I need a new windshield (Mine has a big crack at the bottom)... If retail is $950, it'd probably cost me about $500 since I get cost + 10%... Now I wonder what the chances are of filing a glass claim on it... although it was cracked when I bought the car so I probably can't unless it gets hit and cracked in a different spot...
