Ideas for wheel color

Since I lack pretty much any kind of artistic eye, I wanted some other peoples opinions on what would look good for wheel color. I've hated the white wheels my SVX came with ever since I got her and now I've got a month off between semesters and can do something about it. My initial thoughts were gunmetal, but as I said, I'm terrible at figuring out things that match

On a side note, I will still be doing my writeup, school just got crazy busy and I had forgotten how much work it took. (I'm going back for my second degree)

Here are some pictures to help get an idea.

Thanks,
Matthew

Re: Ideas for wheel color

I detest white wheels in general. Never have liked them, never will. Are you debating colours for new wheels, or to paint your stock wheels? With the heavy shape of the stock SVX rims I don't find them good looking in any colour other than silver. If you're going aftermarket, some black or gunmetal rims would be cool.

What colour is your car? It looks too metallic to be one of the stock reds.

I'm partial to stock silver but gold might look nice with your paint job. I have a set of center caps too if you're interested. Are those rims painted white or just really faded. If they are painted white you may be able to salvage the oem finish.

Re: Ideas for wheel color

For the record, I didn't paint these wheels white. Some prior owner did. I have never liked it, it looks tacky to me.

I am sticking with the stock wheels. I sourced myself center caps from a junk yard, but they're stock color so I just left them off until I get things painted.

I don't want to put too much more money into this car since I'm beginning to think about the next project. It'll require saving for a while though.

Crazy_Pilot, you are correct that it's not a stock SVX color. It's Mica Ruby Pearl. I believe it was an SVX color in a couple of countries, but not in North America. One of the reasons I like it is that it looks nice and red in the day, but at night it blends into the darkness well. It's hard to describe.

So it's 2 for stock silver, 1 for gunmetal so far.

As I understand it the stock wheels came in three different shades of silver. I myself have cars with two different silver shades.

In my opinion the brightest of these silvers will suit your Mica Red best. The darkest silver, which is almost a tungsten colour, does not suit it well at all.

I have stock photos of original market Ruby cars with different shade standard rims. [OEM market Ruby cars all have a black roof]. Would you like to see them for comparison?

Joe

That's the color my 90 Legacy wagon is, it looks pretty good when it's clean and shined up but that car has quite a few dings dents and scratches, so it doesn't really look that great :P
