how to change ignition light colors

I really like that. What kind of leds did you use? Are they put in the stock locations?

it looks really good! but the red thing bugs too. do you guys think with the stage gels it would let the needle stay red??? also as far as the blue on the hvac and other buttons did you sand them as well?? and by wet sand, sorry if it's a dumb question, but how do you wet sand?? do you use a dremel tool? or a palm sander or what???

They are the newer SMT LED's and I bought them off of ebay. They are mounted in the stock locations. The thing with the SMT technology is that they have a wider angle of illumination.

You wet sand by using a wet/dry sandpaper and soaking it in water. Wet sanding gives you a quicker and smooth cut. all of the other buttons and such you do not need to sand just use the stain glass paint behind the symbols.

Any chance on some inside pics? I'd love to change my dash to blue. Did you just change all the LEDs to blue, or use stage gels?

svxash - the blue looks awesome, thanks for posting the pics. I like red.. it's my favorite color but blue seems to be a much calmer color for the interior of the car I feel.

What would look great is if the needles (red) could be replaced with some sort of clear ones with a white led aimed through the end of one so they would light up clear. I guess the idea in my mind seems like a good idea but I'm not sure how it would or could play out or how clear plastic ones could be done.

What about when the car is in gear? Nothing to do to change that also somehow maybe?

Thanks svxash, I went ahead and ordered 2 sets. I've always wanted to get better lights behind the gauges because the stock one FAIL bigtime. The don't illuminate the whole gauge because you can see bright and dark spots. I'll post pics of before and after with my red gauges when they come in.


Also svxash, I was thinking about your needle being to dark problem so I was looking at a spare set and thought why don't you scratch off/remove the orange film underneath the needle so it glows blue. I still can't think of a solution for the redline but we don't need to no that.
