Stock wheel balancing?
Is it possible to dynamically balance the stock svx wheels by having the outter weight placed on the inside of front of the wheel. Reason I ask is because i have mint stock wheels and don't want to have them chipped up by putting the traditional wheel weights on the outer part of the outside of the rim. When i went to have the rims balanced, the guy said I couldn't have it done because the inside of the svx rim was grooved. I know newer rims place a weight (looks like a strip of square metal weights) on the inside of the rims...any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Chris

Chris,
I have been doing this since 1999 without problems, first on my 1992 and more recently on my 1996. After having my wheels powder coated by Transwheel, I did not want to mar the finish with weights. My tire shop put normal weights on the rear of the rim and the adhesive weights on the inside of the rim, as close to the front as possible. The grooving is very fine and the adhesive backing of the weights have never come off, either from speed or weather Any competent tire shop can do it. If your's cant, find another one. .

I have had some of mine done that way as well. The other problem with the traditional weights is that they corrode and mess the wheel up as well. Good luck.

I work in a tire shop, and this is what I'll be doing to my wheels after I refinish them this spring. I do the same thing to every set of new and refurbished wheels I get. My gold STI rims will also be getting stick-ons, even though they have a lip on the outter face.
The best way to do it is to bring the wheels seperately, and keep them warm beforehand. Or, do it on a warm day. The adhesive weights don't like to stick as well when the wheel is at below freezing temps, and if the shop is in a rush they may not have time to let the car/wheels sit inside long enough to warm up. You can also consider having them use adhesives on the inner lip. The reason is that the normal clip-on style weights will scratch the lip when installed, and if you live somewhere they salt the roads it gives the corrosion a convenient opening to get started.
