Problems With the SVX
The SVX was far from a problem-free vehicle. As many SVX owners would come to find out, there were three predictable problems: premature transmission failure, wheel bearing failure, and brake rotor warpage. The transmission was prone to failure primarily due to heat. A number of reasons exist for this, the most notable being a poorly designed lubrication system that doesn’t flow enough to keep everything properly lubricated. This transmission was also found in the Subaru Legacy, Nissan Pathfinder, and Mazda MPV and is relatively easy to find. Found here : http://www.beyond.ca/cool-car-kicbac...-svx/1192.html |

Re: is this true
The part about the transmission commonality? Not really. The Legacy has different gearing, and the Pathfinder and MPV might share some internals, but different cases. The 3.54 4EAT is unique to the USDM SVX.
