Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

In the midst of some electrical hiccups. Replaced the bad alternator two weeks ago, and had a short fixed after my 94 LSi didn't start.

Friday, I had the Steering, Battery, Brake Light(!), and ABS warning lights on, and just got to the mechanics as the power steering went on me and the car died.

Saturday morning, the battery was replaced. The warning lights remained on until I put the car in power mode, and then then they shut off.

Today, starting the car after work, the same lights come back on, and the stereo died and wipers slowed as I pulled into my driveway.

Tomorrow? Driving to school with jumper cables, hoping to get there, and to the shop afterwards without a problem. Any thoughts as to what could be the issue?

You need a better quality alternator rebuild...

or, it could be grounds. Where did you get the alt from?

Great minds think alike- I just finished this up last night:

top switch only does the memory read, top and bottom buttons will clear the code.

I was also thinking about 2 switches, but I did a quick install with a switch I had laying around. WOW! Nice clean job!

I forgot to post, but a couple of weeks ago, Nate and I successfully swapped my SVX to 5 speed. It came out great!

Wire the blue wire to one contact and a wire into the pin for the other contact for the switct. Connects the circuit so you can check codes.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Took my '92 out for a 90-minute drive after it had been sitting for a week.

Nice day, nice cruise, hit 100 mph twice on some long open stretches.

Damn ! That is one nice car, even when 20 yrs old.
