By all means, make sure you have all of the necessary paperwork! I found out after I got back to NY from NJ that our DMV now requires completion of a section on the registration form to be filled out that used to just be for vehicles transferred as gifts or ATVs and the like. It's a drag, having your new-to-you car in your driveway without being able to drive it for a week!

Re: 1992 Claret w/5 speed & a ton of extras- NJ

I paid Mike621 in full for the 92 Claret I won on his ebay auction. Unfortuneately I was not able to drive it home, as it was having some running issues blowing a fuse for the fuel pump I believe. Mike and his Dad drove me back home, and Mike later went and bought a new fuel pump at his expense and installed it. Thank you for that Mike. I hope to come back to get it tonight or tomorrow. I am also sad to say that I will be offering it for immediate sale. My wife doesnt think its a good idea to have two svx's with one being a five speed that she doesnt know how to drive, and then finding out my 97 ebony needs a tranny. I have not yet handed over my polo which I sold to a co-worker, and will need to use it a bit longer, until I can get a tranny for my 97. The 92 claret will not get registered and will be garaged at my fathers house until I can resell it. Anyone want it, $5555 is what I paid for it. This is not what I was expecting by any means

Car still isnt driveable, had mechanic look at it yesterday. Still blows the 30A green fuse under hood. Still has rough idle, attempted to test drive it, and it stalls as soon as you disengage the clutch. This could be a an electrical nightmare problem. Has got to be the most expensive undriveable car ever sold. Mechanic thinks it could have bad gas in it, cause when he sprayed it with starter fluid the idle smoothed out, then got rough immediately after the fluid burned off. At this point I am willing to take a $555 loss, plus my fees to the mechanic and sell it to anyone who is able and willing to thump their head against the wall and try and solve this dilemma. A flatbed and $5,000 and its yours. Anyone???

Re: 1992 Claret w/5 speed & a ton of extras- NJ

This is a great looking car looks like a new car. With a little time & tinkering and TLC this could be one of the nicest car on here. You just need to take the time to find the problem. It hurts me to say I unfortunately can no longer buy this car due to circumstances beyond my control. But don't let the little problem plaguing it stop you from buying it.This car has a lot of potential. So much has already been done to it.

I asked in a different thread but I'll ask here too. Which of the two green fuses is blowing?

Re: 1992 Claret w/5 speed & a ton of extras- NJ

That fuse feeds the fuel pump relay as well as sends power through the "main relay" to the oxygen sensors, injectors, purge control solenoid, bypass air control solenoid, EGR solenoid and induction control solenoid.

Can you keep the engine running and fuse safe in any way (eg. keeping the clutch down)? Can you use cheap fuses to help diagnose the issue?
