Manual seatbelt swap... passenger side, anyway. Driver's side awaits parts.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

4 Slotted Rotors and 4 sets of pads showed up at the door yesterday. Amazon was actually cheaper than e-bay! $180 for everything. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004YXHCI2.

A vacuum bleeding kit showed up friday.

Now I'm wondering if I have the energy to do this to my svx today.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Drove it, i did not want to start a new thread for this but I have a question. Can police radar guns read our cars? The ones that display the speed limit and then your speed underneath. I drove by one today and it had no reading. I accelerated over the speed limit and it read 37. I was going faster than that so it must have been picking up the car behind me. Can police radars read our cars or does the weird titanium oxide coating stop it?

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Got off my lazy and got the quote as the man himself wanted to see the car in person for better judgement. Repairing all the dents, dings, rust involved for the Bordeaux including the red mica paint I want he... estimated it all at $2,200, total.

So now, I have to flip a coin. Both sides are probably heads anyways... I pretty much have my heart set on the idea...

Granted its got 203k on it now so I do tend to question it but I know with a paint job and no dents, dings etc it would make me super happy and look great for years to come. Plan on having Nate to do a sort of engine overhaul either later this year or early next (everything else attaching to the engine has been replaced within the last year or two) so just seals, head gasket and whatnot.

This year has been good for me on the SVX side, to note. Only had to have the timing belt/water pump done early this year, a recent radiator cap ($10 ftw!) a rotore and soon the exhaust work done which will put be under $500 to maintain this car for 2011!

The only thing I can think of after this is maybe a Koni setup of sorts. So should I jump for the paint?

Do the paint, just understand that the car will be worth the same amount whether you paint it or not. I know it will make you very happy to see the paint restored, and at this point, ownership of these cars is more about emotional fulfillment than practicality or street value.

Yea, it certainly isn't about value here and I'm definitely not wanting or trying to sell it so.... just rocking it out as long as I can... or can afford to rather.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

The wife called this morning, said that the 2007 Forester is acting up.... hesitating and missing... well, I thought that's the very first thing to go wrong since new - it's been very reliable, not a thing.

I told her to turn around and head home, which she did. It stalled less than a mile from home. I towed her with the Outback, gave her a lift to the office and drove back. Finished the tranny valve body swap on the SVX - just to have two cars to drive and started to look at the Forester.....

Half a tank of fuel, the fuel pump relay works, the pump whirrs. I hooked a pressure gauge - nothing. Took the pump and other stuff out of the tank, tried the pump from an external power source - sure works alright.

Looked into the tank from the pump opening. Totally dry. I mean there were only a few drop, it sucks it real empty.....

Looked at the fuel gauge again and it still says half full even with the ignition on. Hmmmm. The sender unit sends a logical signal - and now after reassembly the gauge seems to work..... and yes, after putting two gallons of the good stuff from a Jerry can sure runs nice again.

Setting the trip when filling up is good thing to do

Oh well, sure did beat a day at the office .

Regards from Finland,

Tapani

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Sanding down my CB hood 1st with 100 grit then with 200 than with 400 and finally with 600 . I may go to 1000 ( was recommended) we will see how it looks first. Then it is going to get a Blue matching panel painted down the middle and pin striped on the edges of that. . Any suggestion from the peanut gallery <LOL>
