UPDATE: I've got the headlights out of my '92 donor and have sent them to Will @ Prolightz for a resto and HID upgrade for my '97. Cheers, Rod.

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
Thanks, Chris, for posting this. It's such a good idea, I asked Will for a quote and he'll do my lights, too, when he has the time. He is quick to respond and thorough in his bid.
Here's what he recommended: 4300k Morimoto HIDs, STI-R projector lenses, CCFL 80mm halos, clear laminate. Can't wait. Any suggestions on where to wire the halos for DRLs appreciated. |

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
I got mine back from Will last week and I installed them last weekend. WOOT!
They look like new. Will has excellent customer service, attention to detail, and does great work. And I'm really happy with the HIDs. I've taken before and after photos that I'll post next time I'm on the computer. Rod.

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
Sure, I can get some pictures of how I did the CCFL wiring next week when I'm back in town. It's actually very simple, there's enough room on the bottom of the headlight body to attach the inverters using velcro. The wires are simply plugged in to my foglight connectors. Using this arrangement the halos are on any time the engine is running with the parking brake off and function as my DRLs.

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
Will that work on US models or will the halos only be on when fog lights are on? I'd like them on as DRLs, ideally. Really, they should shut off when other lights are on, probably?

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
Had an interruption in my install of these lights but finished them today, for now. Halos later, after I think about how I want to wire them a bit. I want them as daytime running lights but not sure if I want them to always be on or switched. They're installed but not powered.
Anyway, Will at Prolightz was easy to deal with, did the work promptly, and the workmanship is better than factory. He was even helpful after the install when I had questions. The install was very easy, just took a little time. If anyone wants, I can send pics of what I did but you can also find them already posted where I was whining about a suspected short ("fusible link".) As most know, if you do this, make sure your wiring is clean. My battery terminals weren't clean enough and that gave me fits until I did the simple job of properly cleaning the terminals. |

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
A small thread derailing:
Exactly what is containted within the lenses on US models? On my car there are some "vertical rectangular" appearing lights to the side, quite strong. Then park lights (always on when the "rectangles" are on which also double as high beam. No fog lights as this is a euro model. Is it the same on your cars except you have front fogs?

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
3 bulbs in each housing. Outside projector is low beam, center bulb is high beam, inner bulb is fog light.
Fog light has a switch and bulb is on with low beams if it is switched on, shuts off when high beams are on. Parking lights are in the corner housing. Bulb for high beams is in a large, almost rectangular reflector. Bulb for fogs is in a smaller, almost rectangular reflector. |

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
I will try to take pics of my car and make a thread later today for documentation purposes.
If someone would like to take pics of your USDM, EUDM, AUDM/NZDM/JDM car with the various lights, I'd be happy! Rerailing: Those headlights sure look sexy except your orange side markers.

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
I realize this is over a year old, but any long term remarks about these lights? also is this guy still in business? I tried opening the website but it was not found.
Edit, clicking on the link in the post did not work but searching for it worked. so information on durability would be good. Last edited by 92 SVX; 12-16-2013 at 10:47 AM. |

As for the outer lens, sandpaper of 800, 1200, 1500 and 2000 is great. Then polish and Turtlewax headlight restorer is key. Going the extra mile, as I will do, entails wrapping the outer lens with 3M UV protectant. But I am keeping my smallcar lens, so I will only use Turtlewax and 3M.

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
Yep, Will is still in business. The website seems to work fine for me, www.prolightz.com
My lights still look like new. It may help that it lives mostly indoors these days, but as a comparison my grille, which I polished at the same time as installing the headlights, is back to it's old yellow self. I didn't use any protection on it though.

Re: Professionally restored and modified headlights
Very happy with my lights still.
Car is garaged and driven no more than once or twice a week so not much of a true test. |
