Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Installed the HID kit. I got the 4500k because I was trying to avoid looking too blue, but I am thinking I have to do something with the fogs and highs now because they look so yellow by comparison.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Installed new AC compressor today and it will get a fresh freon charge tomorrow. Not a moment to soon, its going to be 30c on Wednesday.

Many thanx to Ilovesvx, for a great price and quick shipping. Its the second time he has come through for me with needed parts.

I took "The Tick" for a ride. Jason had a flag malfunction, and The Tick did his angry dance.

Haha, nah, he's a coworker so I have a little insight... I really don't want to risk it on account of his health.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I just finished the 4.44 swap in mine and have been treating it to as many miles as I can to test it out.
I think I've managed more miles over the weekend than in the last year of ownership.

Tomorrow I'm picking up a set of STI BBSes.

Next steps will be to ever-so-slowly get it track worthy.

It is the little things that matter. I re-attached by driver's door sill/runner with 3M Automotive double-sided sticky tape. Seems to be holding well and there are no excessive gaps.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Just dropped off my 92 Ebony yesterday for a full-car paint job.

I know, it's crazy yo paint an almost 20-yr old car, but danged if the thing isn't acting like an almost new car after being hauled out of 3.5 years of storage in mid-February. I installed an external transmission cooler and the ECU and TCU from ECUtune and like I said, it runs like an almost new car now.

The interior has remained in great shape, so I am indeed looking forward to seeing what it looks like when I get it back in the middle of next week.

Deciding to get it painted was a key decision. I've obviously now decided to try to make it last another 20 years. Now that I know all the car's quirks and faults (I've replaced most everything that can fail over the past decade), I may have a chance at making this a very well maintained high-mileage SVX (it's only got 110k miles on it now).

How much was it ? I need a new AC compressor (last thing I need to fix).

I don't notice the absence of AC all that much, since it rarely gets really hot here in Vancouver, but it would be nice to get it working again.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Just finished installing on the '97 new wear-ever brake rotors that we had silver zinc plated, repainted calipers with duplicolor silver, new federal-mogul thermoquiet pads, new oem struts and mounts (front only), new PWR radiator (thanks Di & OT!).
The PWR radiator required considerable dremeling of the fan shrouds to fit, tubing sleeve over overflow barb to match OD of factory overflow hose, resealing of ATF fittings, shortening upper oem hose to clear power steering hose, slicing off 3/16" of lower radiator mount to clear hood. We put the sliced off sections on the top radiator posts to take up the space.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Had the transmission and rear diff fluids drained and replaced. Had the radiator flushed and re-filled. Had the brake fluid flushed and re-filled and replaced the spark plugs. On the Legacy.

On the SVX I pulled the camber bolts out of the top of the front struts and replaced them with the standard bolts set to max negative camber. I destroyed two nice tires due to too much negative camber. Popped another set of tires on her and drove her to the airport for my business trip. Last week popped in a new lightweight battery (14 lbs).

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Finally went to Austin and picked up the Claret over the weekend. Engine swap turned out fine it's got a very loud exhaust leak in the left pre-cat.
