Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Engine is in, everything connected, fired it up. First time I fired it up the rebuilt injectors it came with had stuck open and flooded the rear two cylinders, put the old ones back on and it runs perfect again. Just need to adjust the tps and it will be good to go.

My SVX passed PA inspection and got a bath. Now she's back to DD duty for now.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Had my a/c compressor and dryer replaced with one that I got from sunvalleyray and recharged the system. Now that's a real cool feeling!

Bought a Windows laptop, installed Evoscan/cable and fired it up.
Evoscan doesn't talk to car. Rats, will do some more reading.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Swapped a rear spindle with a bad bearing for a good one that I had on a spare rear subframe. I think I had forgot how quiet this car should be and all the "wobble" under power is gone. It's such a pleasure to drive now

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Five speed is in, starter is in, shifter is in.

As far as the shift lock goes, am I jumping the outside two wires on the plug, or the right two wires (with the lock facing up)?

Or just unplug the shift lock unit, and not have to worry about a user induced failure point.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Took my Vortex XT6 for a 250km round trip to blow the cobwebs out.
Went well except the drivers window got stuck leaving a 2 inch gap.
It was awfully cold here this morning, 100km at 6:00am.
Heater was well & truly tested as well.

The shift lock unit.. right on top of the transmission tunnel, in front of the E brake, black box. It probably says "shift lock unit" right on it, huh?

(I don't have the car in front of me right now so I'm trying to remember)

Will any other functions be affected by unplugging it? Brake/reverse lights or the key chime? Am I removing the entire unit, or unplugging a certain plug?

thank you

You're unplugging it and removing it. IIRC, just one plug and one bolt. Very simple. Like most of the modules on the SVX, it seems to just do its one job, and that's it - shouldn't affect anything else. Has been removed from my 6-speed car for a very long time without any ill effects.

Awesome, thanks!

I snuck out this morning while the family was still asleep and re-installed the throttle body. Holy vacuum lines.

Getting close..

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I took mine out of my still-auto SVX when the module started to fail (had to use a screwdriver to get it to come out of park 3/4 times I started it), and nothing bad has happened yet The shift lock computer is still plugged in and everything, just the lock mechanism is gone
