That is one impressive front end on the SVX. I love it!

Great work Dmitry!

Re: SVX bodykit and front update

Hi Dan. I have changed last picture a little bit. I think it more expressional variant. Wide back fenders, some another front bumper, rims from GTR 34 and hood scoop from STI.

Freeman, the only way to fit GTR parts correctly on an SVX is:

1- Get/borrow GTR parts like bumpers, grilles, skirts, etc...
2- Make a mold out of them...
3- Make a mold out of OEM SVX bumper, grille, etc...
4- Make FG parts out of all the molds above.
5- Fit the OEM SVX FG parts on
6- Cut/grind/etc... and finally merge the FG GTR bumper onto the FG SVX bumper to make them fit on one another and look like in the pictures that Farang fabbed.

Here is a perfect example of what I am talking about. Check the picture below, here is an accident I had years ago after I fabbed my kit. If you check the upper part of the bumper, just below the grille this is the part I took out from the OEM SVX bumper. Then there is the horizontal crack then the WRX impreza part of the bumper. All these parts were taken out from fiberglass:

The unique thing about FG is that you can reattach all the broken parts easily... So I gathered all broken parts from the accident and reglued them with resin... even the foglight housing of the bumper.. check this out:

and finally, going to paint...

For mass production, a final mold should be done out of the "merged" parts and new lightweight parts are to be produced. This thing I never got to doing it, the kit I have on my car is the prototype, still...

This is the only way deemed acceptable in my book. If Gamesy or any other member wishes to attempt the GTR looks above on an SVX, follow my 6+1 commandments above , or else it will be a major .

Re: SVX bodykit and front update

hi! Farang
thanks for all the work!

the R33 looks fantastic!! I may just have to target that as my mod! I assume the side skirt also came from the GTR correct?

the gallado somehow looks great too! however, the fabrication of the rear end might be a bit more challenging...

Dmitry fiberglass is only difficult to fab when you need to take a mold of a 3D shape. As impressive at this work may seem on this car above, I follow a different method concerning FG. Well I don't think anyone in the world uses my method. When fiberglassers take shapes out of molds, they put in the mold first a thick black bondo material before pouring the fibermat and resin. The thing that I don't do.

This black material (as you can see all over the car's panels), even though there will be primer above it, sucks the primer and the paint with time, rendering the paintjob faded and fuzzy. What I do instead, I put a thin separator in the mold, then apply fibermat and resin. When removing the outcome, I only remove a fiberglass product with a perfect shape. Then the painter applies a very thin layer of bondo, primer and paint/clear. The outcome will be flawless as if it was made out of metal

Furthermore I would burn my SVX to ashes before filling bondo in such a way:

The end
Freeman, I promised I would fab grilles for a lot of members, but couldn't do it. For my grille I used my OEM one, cut the glass part and filled the interior with fibermat and resin. Because of the ****ty work I have done on it in the past, here is what it looks like now

I am not proud of this particular part (and the hood), but when I return home, I will find a new way to take a mold out of it. After thinking it over, I think this 3D part will be a challenge for me (because of its angles), it is going to be done while attaching 4 different molds

@Gamesy, for the part of my bumper from foglight to foglight, I also took a mold out of the bugeye bumper.

Re: SVX bodykit and front update

That one is actually pretty nice. Can you try it with a silver hood and no license plate bracket?

Also, since you're trying out black hoods, try one with the top of the front fender to side mirrors also black. I'd like to see how it looks with the whole top half of the car black.
