Re: Black fiberglass hood now avilable.
To be fair we can get a good increase in hood clearence if someone made the central area of the hood that is lower on the OEM hood higher. IE make it rise above the fender line by the same ammount its currently depressed.
in the 90's it wasn't uncommon to have the lower grade cars have the hood with a recessed center and the highperformance version have a raised center regardless of need. And if you really want more, you can buy fiberglass parts for a bodyshop to modify a current hood with. http://www.jegs.com/c/Hoods-Scoops-B...10355/10002/-1 |

Re: Black fiberglass hood now avilable.
I did a test-fit of a black ABS cowl scoop like the one shown above (except without the center ridge) and it actually looked pretty slick. It didn't fit at all because the leading edge of the uber custom intake manifold is sooo far forward and sooo tall.
I'm going to wind up doing one of those "power bulge" dealies that XT6Wagon mentioned.

Re: Black fiberglass hood now avilable.
Far too short front to back, and far, far too far forward on the hood.
Besides, 404: Intercooler not found.

Re: Black fiberglass hood now avilable.
hmm I missed this reply I think.
I dont want that exact type but I would love to see a cowl induction hood for the svx. maybe flow the rise so it isnt so abrupt and widen it I think. And definitely no raised ridge. |

Re: Black fiberglass hood now avilable.
They are fiberglass, not carbon fibre.
(So eventualy you have to paint it so that it looks pretty.) They do not have the hood scoop, (unless you pick one out and send it to them.) As a fiberglass hood they seem to hold up much better than the carbon fibre ones that as far as I know are now unavailable.

Re: Black fiberglass hood now avilable.
You're right. That does look considerably faded. It is better than most CF SVX hoods ive seen, but clearly they dont hold up too well.

Re: Black fiberglass hood now avilable.
Im gonna need a new hood. Last Tuesday a 21 year old kid texting hit my baby. We were doing 40 down the road and side swiped me. He got the bumper, right fender, turn signal and hood. Knoked out the allignment too. I need to fix her!!!
I have to say that the car is awesome. It was raining out when he caught me with the left rear side of his car. Slid me out but she corrected and I was able to get the kid. Im hoping they wont total her due to costs of the repairs. I'll be looking for a new hood to replace my fiberglass one. The cooler looking the better. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Cheers, Adam |
