New junkyard hood for the Outback $30, beats not having clear coat.

Installed new rear OEM wheel bearings and seals and forget to put the backing plate BACK on!!! So pissed! I am a moron and just threw $150 + down the drain...needless to say I am taking a break from working on the car for the rest of today!

In 1995 Subaru Outbacks did not have a hood scoop, as I remember.

If by backing plate you mean the dust/dirt shield mine have rusted away to the point they don't do anything anyway. Doesn't seem to make a lot of difference. ( but I was thinking of getting new ones next time I replace my bearings.)

1997+ gets the scoops, no scoops for 95 & 96 I really wanted a scoop but couldn't wait any longer. Best I could do for a scoop was craigslist for $70 to $100. I'll pay $30

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Yes i mean THAT backing plate. Problem is the backing plate is mandatory if I want to keep the parking brake and emergency brake components

Also...am I asking for trouble by trying to reuse the same/new bearings? I know the answer...but I am hoping for a different one

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Changed her oil, and finally put on my freshly painted STi wheels! These were originally silver. I sandblasted them, then used GrimmSpeed paint for the gold. They replicate Subaru colors, and I must say, this is pretty freaking close to the OEM gold.

And some stickers!

They look great, were those the ones you originally did in black with a red lip? The gold look good on your car.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

What water? I don't see anything... And yes, those are the ones I had painted black. Nothing a sandblaster can't fix! I was getting tired of the "time attack" look that every civic had. Even Walmart had hubcaps that looked identical...
