Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

.

I had my JDM BBS wheels and new Kumho tires installed by IAG Performance today. Had the tires match-mounted and did the Hunter Road Force balance with Straight Trak. The wheels had been trued by Transwheel and the maximum weight needed on one wheel was only 1.5 oz. total. The other wheels needed between .75 and 1 oz. These Kumhos are supposedly quieter than the directional Proxes 4

Keeping the center caps off temporarily as a reminder to re-torque the lugs after 50 miles.

I may be putting my absolutely immaculate, perfect OEM wheels, with almost new ( less than 4,000 miles) Toyo Proxes 4 tires already mounted and balanced, up for sale.

Which Kuhmos you get? All I buy are Kuhmos for our cars. The XS (extreme performance summer) is the loudest tire I've ever experienced, the LE is the quietest (max performance summer). Both are good for about 10-20k dependin on driving style but they are a blast to play with.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Dropped trans today. Caught it with my chest. All is good though. Over last few days have dropped diff and other various items for 4.44 swap. Taking longer than I intended, but its a good learning experiance.

They're okay, I wouldn't call them overly quite but they are a big improvement over the ASX but 40k, what do you plan on keeping them on for 10 years? All season tires simply suck in all seasons vs dedicated summer and winter tires and with your driving habits with the SVX I wouldn't even bother with winter tires. Hope they work out good for ya.

I will take some soon and post. But in the meantime, this is what they look like on a polo. I want to remove my spoiler to get this same look, but the wife really likes the spoiler.

Will probably unbolt it and drive around for awhile to see it I like it and maybe she will too.

My brother in law has those same rims (in gold) on his Q45. I think they were stock.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

First steps to add a 2006 Forester OEM under-seat subwoofer to the SVX.
Sub is a perfect fit under the passenger seat behind the tray. Too thick to fit under the driver's seat unless moved to top seat position.
Wanting to keep things as original and reversible as possible, I have two of these daisy-chained in my Outback XT since 2009. Just enough bass support and augmentation for my purpose - in fact the one under the driver's seat has to be turned down because of over-stimulation. At the time I bought 3 of these mail order from Byers Imports eBay store in Colombus OH @ $105 each.

Still available at Byers.
http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Subaru-OEM-20...item27cf2abfc9

Contacted David Carter about having a pricy custom harness made up and he brilliantly suggested a simple inexpensive method. Move the OEM harness pins into blank SVX 20 pin M & F connectors. The additional wire is for the Illumination Dim function on the stalk. Totally removable and reversible without cutting splices.

Tonight I labeled the 14 wires on the harness. With David's diagrams this week I will shift the pins, one at a time, into the new SVX connectors.

Then on the first warm sunny Spring day, coming soon, the SVX radio will be extracted, Sub Harness will be Plug & Played in place and the new installation tested.
I expect things will go flawlessly and my new sound will compliment the luxurious beauty of my 97 SVX. Have already replaced the 4 main speakers with tri-axial cones - they're great but lacking the bass I desire.

Dave
