It's definitely worth the $20 more than you'd spend at the hood strut website.

Also made a trip to the junkyard, as you can tell by the intake snorkel in the picture.
Mine's full of cracks and broken nipples

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Got back to working on my engine today... the house decided to stop falling apart... or I fixed everything.. unsure. Either way, I was able to find myself in the garage with my engine this weekend. Missed her...

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

I know some of you may have already seen this on the FB group but for those of you not there, I finally tackled and completed my intake manifold/engine cover project I had started almost a year ago. After learning the Laguna (which was wrecked last year and has been in the body shop since November) is finally fixed and ready for pickup on Friday, I felt motivated to get something new done. Not sure about the silver combo but overall I'm pleased with the results:

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Box of parts arrived from Hanson Subaru, USA.
8 days in the post, 10 days sitting at customs in NZ.

Very pleased that Hanson were able to supply all the parts I needed for <$NZ2000 compared to the NZ dealer who quoted $NZ2900 for about 60% of the needed parts, the other 40% were simply unobtainable.
Saved money, got everything I needed.

A bit disappointed about the box size, for $2000 I'd expect something bigger.
Scary thought, I could have bought (yet) another SVX for less than I paid for 9kg of car parts. I suspect wifey would have been grumpy if I increased the collection to 5.

Anyway, dropped the box off to the mechanic and will wait patiently a few weeks for him to put it all together.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

That intake looks awesome!!

Shane, I know how you feel. I have several boxes of engine components (hoses, gaskets, wiring, sensors, bolts, clips, etc), each being $$$.. I just try not to think about the cost and just the end goal.

Waiting on another order for some missing bolts.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

Today I bought my SVX a friend.

A 1992 model went through Turners auctions and I picked it up for a sharp price.
I only got to see photos, it seemed in average condition, not trashed but not loved. Apparently drivable condition, but no guarantees.

What I liked is it is NZ new, not used Japanese import.

This gives me the option of pinching the glass headlights and 260 km speedo to put into my daily driver car. Undecided yet.

Regretfully, part of the explanation to my wife (after the purchase was finalised) is that I have to sell my 1992 JDM which I've owned for 7 years but not driven for the past six months.
So, I'll be giving that a polish up and put it up for sale soon.

Re: What have you done to your SVX (or other Subaru) today?

With my SVX glaring at me from the other side of the garage, this weekend I'll be tackling a rear disc brake conversion on my 2001 Forester. I'll be swapping over complete wheel assemblies from an 06 WRX, with 2 pot calipers (to match the FHI 4 pot fronts). I also have a set of fancy STi stainless brake lines that I'll be throwing on front and rear.

Gave the new owner my rear hubs so that he could press in new wheel bearings for it.

Glad to see that ****er gone!
