Hey guys and gals, I'm Ben from Indianapolis. I'm a parts guy at a local Subie dealership and love all things boxer. The SVX has had a place in my heart since my youth and I've decided one would make a fine daily driving sidekick to my 03 WRX wagon(mafia) The fun part is gonna be not going crazy and trying some STi drivetrain swap once I find "the one" I'm 29, an avid autocrosser, head of the rallycross development for the indy region of the scca, and dj when I'm not racing or slanging parts. I have some sensors and other engine parts you guys may be interested in as well but I'll save that for the classifieds

As you are into Subarus, you will know the engineering behind them is pretty good.

Before you buy one acquaint yourself with the check-list in the How To section, just so you know the weak points. Oh, and the golden rule with the SVX is not to settle for or fall in love with the first car you see. If the owner profile is bad, then lots of servicing will be missed, and you could end up pumping dollars into it.

Just got my first SVX after many years of wanting one. A 96 LSI 80k. So I felt that validated me being able to post here? Heh

As luck has, I am moving to PA the week after the Reading meet. So I won't be able to make newbie introductions. Looking forward to hearing about other meets in the future.

Don't have an SVX currently, but would like one, even as a bit of a project car.

I am not new to Subaru, though. I have a 2005 Legacy GT Limited 5-speed manual. It is Garnet red over black leather, and has a cat-back exhaust, and is tuned to "stage 2" for more power than stock. It is also lowered and tinted, with black headlights, and aftermarket wheels in the summer. Otherwise pretty clean.

I love the car, pretty much every aspect. The only way it could be better is if there were a different coupe bodystyle with SVX's window-in-a-window and flush glass "canopy" like treatment, and a fastback hatch, like my old 93 Probe GT had. Even as a sedan, the Legacy has everything else all over the old Probe GT, including almost twice the power, and twice the traction, and much more neutral handling.

Since Subaru doesn't build a current SVX... I keep coming back to read and learn about the one they did build. I have been lurking around here on and off for a couple of weeks, and hope to gather information, and hopefully someday gathering enough cash to put an SVX in the garage, for fun and moderate use.

If I could have my pick... a 95 Laguna Blue/black roof over grey leather LSi with L-model non-wood dashboard, perhaps...

that would be awesome. That, fully maintained of course, would be nice for a canvas to start mods... 17-18 inch wheels, tint, lowering, and maybe even a Legacy Spec.B 6MT and rear differential behind the EG33... Maybe some tasteful LED elements added to the stock lighting fixtures, and a couple of little updates like that...

A very nice forum you have here, and I hope you don't mind a lurker chiming in occaisionally, while I educate myself on this fine car, and prepare to get one for myself someday.

I will be heading to the Johnstown/Altoona area. My second tour in PA, used to live outside of Allentown in the late 80's.

Looks like there are quite a few SVX's in PA.
