trust me, if you could use the stock cable, I wouldn't have extended it... Not hard at all though if you have a pedal or trigger controlled tig welder

No I don't...and of course, you were right. Shifter was extended nicely, but running the cable around it just wouldn't reach.

Bugger. Might have to make a new cable as don't have access to tig. I like what you've done with yours though...seems simple.

Lost a bit of interest in it tonight. Time's so short, and there's so much to do. That's coupled with the likelihood of a total fire ban in the area on Saturday...if that's the case, no rally for us due to fire risks.

Shifter didn't work...spilled a litre of gear oil (stinks)...brakes were bled, but still spongy...clutch bled, but doesn't have enough travel.

And it all has to be packed on the trailer tomorrow night...I'm starting to be glad I got a trailer with a winch instead of being able to drive it on!!

Matt,

Stay with it! If a fire ban, would the race reschedule or cancel?

Well there's been an update...I took it round the block a few times today.

Whilst it's got no brakes (need more bleeding), and the thermostat was initially a bit sticky, I was very tentative. After sorting the thermostat, and adjusting the clutch, I decided to get into it.

First impressions are that it feels pretty quick. Whether it's quick enough, time will tell, but it was pretty nice.

The 3000rpm resonation is nicely heard...thanks Mr Y-Pipe.

And it sounds pretty aggressive...nice and raspy.

Had a few sticky lifters, which seem to have sorted themselvs out. I was a bit worried it was related to the clutch etc, but it's not.

It needs a bit of a wheel alignment to not surprisingly.

Otherwise, it's a good start.

Problems include...only gauges working are fuel and temp. Speedo not working (obviously with the absence of the auto sender, and no sender on the 6 speed) and tacho which was a surprise. Anybody got ideas on the tacho circuit? Diff bushes are busted, so it's clunking heaps on harsh acceleration.

Otherwise...it's getting there.

Matt

Looks like your only competition is WRXs and Evo.

Here's some more proof.

So we didn't finish...an electrical gremlin meant we stopped in the middle of the second stage, and couldn't get it going again.

I'm not dissapointed, it was a good test of the car, and has given us some development opportunities.

Matt,
Great first step. Love the mudflaps!
What electrical gremlin got you? I didn't think there was all that much electrical wiring left in that beast
How'd the struts work out?

Matt,
I've been working with DMS's North American arm on some camber/caster plates for the SVX and they aren't aware of the struts you're running. Could you give me the part numbers for them?
Thanks.

Bill the number from the paper work is SUB-SVX-F-50A-N62 for the fronts & SUB-SVX-R-50A-N62 for the rears. They were built specially for my Matt & my car. Your guy needs to send a email to Jamie the owner here in Australia. I have lifted the car 40mm so they had to change my springs to 400's on the front's.
